The Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Football League 2012 season will kick off on April 14th and will include a Premier and First Division.


This was disclosed following a meeting of League Representatives and Local clubs last Thursday at which an Interim Committee was sanctioned by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation to organize various competitions until a date for the election of the new executive of the Women’s Football Association is set.

According to Jinelle James, a national women’s team administrator and member of the TTFF technical committee, the League will partner with local NGOs this season with an aim to connecting more with local women and female youngsters.

“The League has plans to reposition and establish a brand for Women's Football with an exciting agenda that includes partnering with NGOs that speak to our females, the Institute of Gender Development Studies- Child Abuse Advocates 'Break the Silence' has already pledged their support to the League and its ventures. The League is scheduled to start on April 14th with kick off of the First Division while the Premier Division will start a month later,” James told TTFF Media.

A Women’s Football Symposium will be staged on March 17/18th and a Sports Development Workshop in Strategic Planning and Developing Proper club structure in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Alliance for Sport and Physical Education (TTASPE) will take place on March 23. The League opening then takes place on April 14th and there are plans to have League Caravans in various communities in the country.

The next scheduled meeting of the interim committee will be on the March 15 at a venue to be determined.
