WASA Clean and White overran second placed Police 5-2 in their Sportworld National Super League match at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, yesterday.


Wasa went into the match in fifth place with 16 points, Police, with 22 points, was in second place,the same amount as league leaders Crab Connection second loss in two matches.

Kirth Hutchins’ 17th minute strike opened the scoring for Wasa followed by Darren Lewis in the 21st, with Richard Roy scoring for Police in the 23rd.

Kevon Henry put Wasa three up on the stroke of half-time.

Joel Daniel effectively put the match beyond Police with a 51st minute goal and Brian Bain wrapped up Wasa’s scoring in the 64th minute.

At this point it was obvious that Police had fallen out of the top two, but Neri Joseph showed some fight as he scored his team’s second in the 74th minute.

Connection remains on top

Crab Connection maintained its position atop the standings with a 3-1 victory over M&M Harvard at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

Ricardo Bennett scored a pair of goals for the winner, and Jason Sampson the other.

Marvin Lee got Harvard’s consolation.

Superstars win

Colin Roberts’ ninth- minute goal was enough for Superstar Rangers to beat Media 21, at the Mount Hope Junior Secondary ground and improve its chances to take the lead.

Joe Public was an easy winner by 3-0 away to Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix in Canaan, Bon Accord, Tobago.

Devon Caseman scored in the 30th minute to give Public a 1-0 lead going into the second-half.

Jamaican Roen Nelson, the league’s 2004 top scorer, got a 79th minute goal, his second of the 2005 league and Wolry Wolfe capped off a perfect match for the defending champs with a 89th minute goal.
