NOTE: 2002 & 2003 San Juan Jabloteh top goal scorer with 11 & 29 respectively. Cornell came very close to signing with English Second Division club 'Peterborough' but, due to his lack of international caps, he could not have obtained a work permit. The manager wanted to sign him on the spot after having a couple looks at him earlier in 2002. Glen also spent just over a one-year stint in Portugal playing for Portuguese second division team 'Association Deportivo' during the 2000/2001 season.
Scored a hattrick against MLS team Chicago Fire during a CONCACAF Club Championship match at the Hasley Crawford Stadium in Trinidad on the 17th of March 2004, Glen's club 'Jabloteh' eventually came away 5-2 winners, Glen was approached by the NY/NJ MetroStars two days after scoring the hattrick. Other clubs Cornell had trials at were English first division club Derby County and English third division club Northampton Town during the month of Febuary 2004.
In his MetroStars debut away game to the San Jose Earthquakes on the 8th of May 2004, Glen scored 2 goals one which has been tipped for the "goal of the season" award,  he then caused the MetroStars to get a penalty when he got fouled in the box after he displayed some dazzling dribbling skills and, also assisted a goal in a 5-5 game tie, Glen picked up the man-of-the-match award. Cornell Glen's heel flick in added time that gave the MetroStars a road point at San Jose in a wild 5-5 finish was voted by fans as the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. Scored 2 goals in his first start for LA Galaxy in a come from behind 2-1 win over Chivas USA on the 15th of April 2006 that earned him MLS Player of that Week. Was T&T's best striker at the 2006 FIFA world cup after some dazzling display and a memorable shot of the woodwork late in the second half against Sweden that if it had gone-in it could have been the game winner. He also had England's Ashley Cole grasping at straws on a few occasions. In Feb-2008 Glen had trial spells with English sides Leeds United and Tranmere Rovers.

Sealy, Glen hold high hopes for T&T.

10-Dec-2005 - Since qualifying for its first World Cup in Trindad & Tobago's history on Nov. 16 by virtue of a 2-1 aggregate-goal playoff victory over Bahrain, Friday's celebratory World Cup draw is the day members of the national team have anticipated, even though they knew it may provide a heavy dose of reality next summer in Germany.
Of the eight groups consisting of four countries each, the debutant Soca Warriors were drawn into Group B with highly rated Sweden, South American perennial power Paraguay, and the group'seeded team England.
Being matched with England, FIFA's 9th ranked side, was expected by Trinidad native and newly-acquired Colorado Rapids' forward Cornell Glen.
"Yesterday I was telling a friend that I thought we might get drawn with England, so being in a group with them came as no surprise to me," he said.
T&T, headed by Dutchman Leo Beenhakker, is currently ranked 51st in the world and will play Sweden in their first match.
Both Glen and Kansas City Wizard forward Scott Sealy feel facing Sweden, ranked 14th, first is a positive situation.
"That's the team we'd like to face first out of the three because England is the most difficult," Sealy said. "You want to establish yourself, find yourself, in the first game. And I think against England that would be difficult to do.
"Sweden will be a very good test, and hopefully we can get a result there and the next game is against [30th ranked] Paraguay, so we could build on [a good first result].
Said Glen, "Sweden is a difficult team but we still have the capability and the skill to beat, or tie, Sweden and make it to the other round. I'm pretty confident that we could make it to the last 16."
After becoming the smallest country to make the World Cup, Glen, Sealy, their teammates, and their countrymen have a right to be confident and excited.
"Up to today it's still a buzz," Sealy said. "Everyone's still happy and still very excited that we qualified. There are still people with flags on their cars and Soca Warriors on every sign. It's still a big deal here. I think it did a lot for the country and the buildup to the World Cup is going to be even bigger.
Having experienced the tension and thrill of qualifying for the first time and the excitement of seeing where its fate has been cast, Trinidad & Tobago can now get on with the task. But it's a job now, approached with intense seriousness, as well as thoughts of possibility, triumph, and greatness usually only reserved for nighttime dreams.
Glen and Sealy were both confident of making the 23-man squad that will fight for their lives in Germany.
"[It's a] tough group," Sealy admitted. "England is the favorite to win the group and Sweden is probably the second favorite. [To me, though,] other than England I think it's up in the air."

Colorado Rapids acquire Cornell Glen.

Colorado Rapids Media.
29-Nov-2005 - The Colorado Rapids announced today the team's first trade of the 2005 off-season, as the Black and Blue acquired forward Cornell Glen from the Columbus Crew in exchange for veteran defender Ritchie Kotschau.
"Ritchie's leadership was without a doubt a great asset for the Rapids and we thank him for everything he did for our team." said Charlie Wright, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Colorado Rapids. "This trade allows us to acquire an exciting striker in Cornell Glen, who we expect will provide a more diverse attacking option for the Black and Blue in 2006."
Forward Cornell Glen comes to his fourth MLS team in his third year in the league. Glen appeared in 18 games for the MetroStars in 2004, tallying six goals and two assists. This past year he spent time with FC Dallas, not seeing any action, before heading to the Crew and scoring four goals, including a penalty kick against the Rapids.
The native of Trinidad & Tobago has played in 34 games for their national team, "The Soca Warriors", scoring 11 goals. Most recently Glen was called up for Trinidad's World Cup Qualifying playoff matches against Bahrain, from which the island nation qualified for their first World Cup Finals ever. He also played for Trinidad & Tobago in the 2005 Gold Cup, where he scored the tying goal against Panama in the 90th minute during the group stage.
Before playing for the MetroStars, Glen competed for San Juan Jabloteh in the Trinidad & Tobago national league. In 2004 Glen scored a hat trick for Jabloteh against the Chicago Fire in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Ritchie Kotschau, the eight-year league veteran, played a total of 28 games for the Rapids in 2005, accumulating 2,272 minutes in the defensive backline for the Black and Blue.

Cornell hopes for recall.

By: Shaun Fuentes.
19-Oct-2005 - Cornell Glen planned to call national head coach Leo Beenhakker to discuss whatever plans the Dutch-born coach may have for him with the national team.
Glen, of Columbus Crew, last played for T&T at the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup but has not been able to earn a pick since and is now eager to make a contribution once requested.
“I’m hoping that I can discuss my future with the team because it was an amazing thing to experience the feeling after the win over Mexico,”Glen said. “I even won some bets with one of the Guatemalan players in the club. It was a fantastic result for us.”
The former Dallas Burn player said he has not been enjoying the best of times with Crew which is expected to name a new head coach later this month. “I had a problem with an archilles injury and even though I was getting some playing time I wasn’t up to my best but now things are looking better and hopefully I can catch myself again,” Glen added.

Discarded T&T striker Glen on fire in MLS.

By: Ian Prescott (Express).
05-Sept-2005 - Dropped by Dutchman Leo Beenhakker, Cornell Glen is using his dismissal from the Trinidad and Tobago national football team as motivation to score goals for his American club, Columbus Crew, and also to appeal to the Dutchman to re-consider his decision.
While Trinidad and Tobago were beating Guatemala 3-2 in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, the former "Warrior' was on fire for the Crew. Scoring one goal and creating the other two, Glen was named Fox Sports Honda MVP of the round of Major League Soccer (MLS) matches played last weekend. He led his team to a commanding 3-0 win over Chivas USA at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California.
Using his breathtaking pace, Glen broke through the left side of the Chivas USA penalty area at least three times, scoring his team's opening goal by putting the ball through the legs of the goalkeeper, and later drawing desperate defenders before teeing up two goals for team-mate John Wolyniec. Glen's pace gave him at least two other chances, which were stopped by Chivas keeper Sergio Garcia.
Afterwards, Robert Warzycha, the Crew's interim coach, spoke highly of Glen's contribution. "Cornell is fast and when he's into the game, he's one of the best players on the field."
Playing alongside Glen paid dividends for striker Wolyniec and he too had only good things to say about the Trinidadian, who served him two goals on a platter.
"Cornell is so fast and I just have to be confident that he's going to beat his man and try to put myself in a good spot and see where the ball ends up and try to put it away," said Wolyniec.
"When you have three forwards and the guys on the outside have as much speed as Cornell and Marcus (Storey), if you get the ball to them early, it's off to the races."
Glen, who was a consistent threat in Chivas' third of the field, is playing with a mission. He said that his aim is to once again make Beenhakker pay attention to what he is doing.
"I'm trying to get back in form and score some goals to get back on the national team and also to make it to the playoffs," said the Trinidad and Tobago national. "That's what's driving me right now."
The young striker has registered just one goal for the Trinidad and Tobago national team. But in his time at local professional club CL Financial Jabloteh, he led them to consecutive league championships in 2002 and 2003, scoring 11 goals in 2002 and then raising his tally to 26 a year later.
Glen also spent two years with Adsanjonese in Portugal. He moved to the United States after catching the eye of the Americans when scoring a first half hat trick against the Chicago Fire to carry Jabloteh to a 5-2 win, in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal series in Port-of-Spain.

Glen gunning, fans wait on ‘Warriors’ in Miami.

By: Shaun Fuentes.
25-Jun-2005 - Columbus Crew striker Cornell Glen is gunning to wear the Trinidad and Tobago colours in the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup.
So pleased is the speedy striker on being recalled by head coach Leo Beenhakker, the former CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh man is promising to pull out all stock in an attempt to cement a spot on the team.
Glen has been a regular starter in the Crew team for the past six matches after being signed from Dallas FC earlier in the season. It took a while for head coach Greg Andrulis to fit him among the starters but now it seems Glen has left an impression. His latest exploit was a set up for Crew's goal in last week's 3-1 loss to New England Revolution.
“This Gold Cup is going to be a turning point for me,” Glen promised. “Honestly I’m just beginning to catch back myself and playing more and more for Columbus has played  a big part in my form at the moment,” he told TTFF Media. “It was obviously disappointing not to be in the team for the last two games but now getting another chance is a good break for me.
“The coach at Columbus told me he had been looking at me for some time now and then he spoke to Stern (John) who apparently had some good things to say and the rest is history now. I am looking forward to making it happen good this time with him up front. I think a lot of people are accustomed with me coming in the side and taking things a bit easy maybe with a lot of jokes and stuff but it’s all serious business now and maybe the current coach will see his philosophy getting results from us as a team,” Glen added. His Crew teammate Luis Gallardo is in the Panama squad as well as Frankie Hejduk in the US team for the tournament.
The former New York/New Jersey MetroStars player will team up with the rest of the T&T team on Monday at the Hilton, Ft Lauderdale for the commencement of a training camp ahead of the opening CONCACAF Gold Cup fixture against Honduras on July 6 at the Orange Bowl, Miami. His other strike partners selected by Beeenhakker include Stern John, Kenwyne Jones, Jason Scotland and Collin Samuel.  Both Scotland and Samuel have expressed delight on getting the picks but their Dundee United boss Gordon Chisholm stressed on Friday that he hopes they can return in good form for their club.
“Once before, Jason was away for a couple of weeks and came back overweight, but, even if they are not involved in games, we need them to be doing a bit of training at this time of year. I expect they will make good use of the tournament across there,” said Chisholm.
The “Warriors” can expect a good backing in the stands as a group of T&T.
A group of fans living in Miami have arranged to occupy a section in the stand at T&T’s matches with a “Warrior Girls” posse along with steel pan, tassa  and iron rhythm sections in association with fetebusters.com, a non-profit organization in Miami as well as a socawarriors.net crew.

Crew acquire Cornell Glen from FC Dallas.

By: Jonathan Nierman/MLSnet.com Staff.
27-Apr-2005 - The Columbus Crew and FC Dallas completed a deal Tuesday that sends Trinidad & Tobago international forward Cornell Glen to Columbus in exchange for the Crew's natural second-round pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft and a 2005 Youth International slot. Glen will be classified as a Senior International. To make room for Glen on their roster, the Crew waived veteran forward Dante Washington.
"We are excited about the addition of Cornell Glen," said Columbus Crew head coach Greg Andrulis. "Cornell is one of the rising young stars in the CONCACAF region. He is a dynamic forward who can change a game. We look forward to having another quality forward on the team."
A native of Port of Spain, Trinidad, Glen joins his third MLS team since coming to MLS for the 2004 season. Last year he was a member of the MetroStars and saw action in 18 games for the club, scoring six goals and adding two assists. He was then shipped to FC Dallas in exchange for the 12th overall pick of the 2005 SuperDraft, which the Metros used to select 18-year-old defender Tim Ward. Glen never made an appearance for FC Dallas in league play.
Prior to joining the MetroStars, Glen played professionally in his native land with San Juan Jabloteh. He has also appeared for the Trinidad & Tobago national team, scoring many goals for his country.
The release of Washington ends the 34-year-old's third stint with the Crew. In nine MLS seasons Washington accumulated 52 goals and 29 assists in 161 games played, including 111 as a starter. He also scored five goals and added one assist in postseason play.

Cornell Glen gunning again.

By: Shaun Fuentes.
30-Mar-2005 - Guns blazing today. That’s what speedy striker Cornell Glen has on his mind ahead of today’s crucial 2006 World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica.
Glen missed the loss to Guatemala after failing to recover in time for Saturday’s match. He was however declared fit and appeared for Dallas FC in a 2-1 win over Colorado Rapids and is back in the T&T team for today’s game.
“I got the chance to come on against the USA and I was then looking forward to playing against Guatemala before the injury. That left me really disappointed but I’ll get my chance again hopefully on Wednesday. I know we are in need of some goals and points and it feels good to come back at a time when the team is in need of something inspiring which hopefully I can help bring. The Costa Ricans are always known for playing with pace but I believe that once we can put our heads together and get our feet down, there’s no reason why we can’t pull it off,” Glen said.

Cornell Glen ready to score.

By: Shaun Fuentes.
18-Jan-2005 - Cornell Glen, now fully recovered from a hamstring injury, is looking forward to his new move to FC Dallas. He was traded last weekend for the 12th overall selection in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft.
The 24-year-old striker appeared in 18 matches, scoring six goals for the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, since he was acquired last season from local club, CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh.
Glen is training with the T&T team and played in Sunday’s 1-0 loss to St Vincent and the Grenadines, in which he looked lively up front and was unlucky not to have had at least a hat-trick by half-time.
“I’m feeling good at the moment and things didn’t go too badly, even though I would have preferred to see one go in the net,” Glen said.
“The leg is feeling good and, hopefully, I can do some further work and keep it that way. I am just focusing on getting all set for the game coming up against the United States next month.”
And FC Dallas top coach Colin Clarke said of the striker: “He’s a player that can turn the game for you and has the strength and the size that we are looking for.”

FC Dallas acquires Glen from MetroStars.

Dallas Burn Media Relations.
17-Jan-2005 - FC Dallas President and General Manager Greg Elliott announced Monday that the club acquired forward Cornell Glen from the MetroStars in exchange for the 12th overall selection in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft (in which the MetroStars selected defender Tim Ward from Saint Louis University). Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Cornell is a full international with a lot of exciting talent to him," said FC Dallas Head Coach Colin Clarke. "It should be fun to watch him and Eddie (Johnson) running around up top together.
"He's a player that can turn the game for you and has the strength and the size that we are looking for."
Glen, 25, appeared in 18 matches (10 starts) with the MetroStars last season, tallying six goals and two assists for 14 points. He took 42 shots, 21 shots on goal. Among team leaders, Glen ranked fourth in goals, points, shots and shots on goal. Last season, was Glen's first in Major League Soccer.
The Port of Spain, Trinidad, native spent the 2002-2003 with CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh of the Trinidad and Tobago First Division. In 2002-2003, Glen led his team to two consecutive league championships to mark the only titles in team history, scoring 26 goals in 2003 and 11 in 2002. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound forward has also scored seven goals for the Trinidad & Tobago national team.

Man with the ‘blue boots’ strikes again.

By: Gregory Trujillo - T&T Guardian Reports.
15-Dec-2004 - Anyone who had the opportunity of looking at Cornell Glen play seven years ago would not have pictured him striking with Coventry City’s Stern John on the T&T senior football team today.
Back then, playing for Mucurapo in the Secondary Schools League Glen, born October 21, 1980, was the only player on the field wearing a blue synthetic boots which made him easy to distinguish.
Eager to try things out of the ordinary, the youngster often made mistakes, causing spectators to utter, “Gosh! That man with the blue boots again.”
Through hard work, discipline, dedication and a fight with injuries, Glen has climbed from being ordinary to exceptional in the space of that time.
No wonder that he is now plying his trade as a professional in the United States with New York/New Jersey Metro Stars in the MSL (Major Soccer League).
“I didn’t feel a how playing with my blue boots. I was a youth and loved the flashy stuff. The boots was given to me by a friend. I just loved it and that is why I played in it. I never thought of how people would of think of me.”
Like many of the talented footballers coming out of T&T, Glen began playing football on the “block” in Waterhole, Cocorite — a place that also produced former national players Clint Marcelle and deceased Denzil White.
The son of Trevor and Patricia Glen was born in Waterhole and is still living there with his other three brothers and four sisters.
His youngest brother Cyrano, aged 17, played his first season with Mucurapo this year in the Secondary Schools League.
“I started playing football on the block with the older fellas,” Glen pointed out.
“It took great courage to reach where I am today and I will encourage any young footballer to stick with it once you have a passion for the game as I do,” he said.
Glen’s speed and movement off the ball has made him the deadly forward that he is today.
His first-half hattrick and assist on another goal on March 17 against Chicago Fire (MLS champion) to carry CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh to a 5-2 win in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinal series at Hasely Crawford Stadium still lingers in the minds of the majority of the 10,000 specators who witnessed the match.
Incidently, it was because of that sterling performance that the soft-spoken player was immediately snapped up by Metro Stars where he made his debut against New England a month and eight days later.
“In the last few years, the coaches I have had basically made me play to my strengths, using my speed and taking on defenders one-and-one,” Glen disclosed.
“From the first day I went to the MSL, I finished touches with my coach Bob Bradley and assistant coach Moe Johnson of Scotland.
“Shooting runs off the ball and working on my first touch, along with shooting with both feet and heading, have been some of the main things I had worked on religiously.
“I am not a striker who loves to head the ball but it is something that I had to improve on.”
Glen has his eyes set on playing for one of the big teams in the English Premiership League. “Obviously I will like to play for bigger money. Right now, I am using playing in the MLS to further my career. Right now, I am more than surviving with what I am getting at MetroStars.
After playing for Futgof in the Semi-Pro League in 1999, Glen spent two years with Adsanjonese (Second Division) in Portugal but left because “I felt that my career was not going anywhere and was at a standstill”.
Presently, Glen has about 18 caps and he hopes that by the end of the World Cup in 2006 he would have represented T&T in another 40 to 50 matches which will make him eligible to play in Europe.
Glen spent 2002-2003 with Jabloteh in the T&T Professional League playing under English coaches Terry Fenwick and Ricky Hill. He led his team to two consecutive league championships, scoring 11 goals in the first season and improving that to 26 in the second season.
“Having played my first season with Metro Stars, I believe that the top clubs in Trinidad could compete with any of the MSL clubs,” Glen said.

Cornell Glenn signs Puma contract.

By: Shaun Fuentes.
11-Aug-2004 - National forward Cornell Glen has signed a contract with Puma which will see him outfitted in casual and football gears for the next two years. Glen, currently playing for American Major League Soccer team New York/New Jersey Metrostars got the deal after some impressive performances for the club. He said his US-based agent Patrick McCabe was also instrumental in getting him signed with the company.
Glen has so far scored four goals for the Metrostars after joining them from local champion club CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh. He has started five consecutive matches after coming off a thigh injury in T&T’s friendly international against Scotland.
The former Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive striker is currently with the national team for today’s friendly against Guatemala in Guatemala City. “It’s been difficult in recent times because I’ve had to work hard to get back my fitness and get back into the team,” Glen said.
“I still have to regain that scoring touch which I had earlier in the season but I’m getting there because I’ve felt better over the past few games. “The coaches at the club are happy with my progress so it’s just a matter of me keeping my spot and getting the goals.”

Glen's flick scores top goal honors.
Tying goal in added time capped 10-goal outburst.

Major League Soccer.
12-May-2004 - New York -- Cornell Glen's heel flick in added time that gave the MetroStars a road point at San Jose in a wild 5-5 finish on Saturday was voted by fans as the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week ( 56K | 384K) for the week ending May 8, 2004 (Week 6). Glenn's tally was his second of the game, as the Trinidad and Tobago international also ignited the 10-goal explosion with his first tally only six minutes into the game.
The weekly winner is determined from a selection of finalists through a fan vote conducted on the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week section of Major League Soccer's official web site, www.MLSnet.com.
With 38 percent of the vote, the first-year MLS player was selected ahead of San Jose Earthquakes forward Landon Donovan, who received 25 percent of the ballots, and Glen's MetroStars teammate Joselito Vaca (23 percent). The other candidates receiving votes were Kansas City Wizards forward Davy Arnaud and D.C. United midfielder Dema Kovalenko.
Glen's game-tying goal earned the MetroStars a tie as the visitors overcame a two-goal deficit late in the match. In the 90th minute midfielder Eddie Gaven curled in an early cross from the right, finding Glen cutting sharply at the near post. The Trinidadian left Onstad helpless to make the stop as he stepped over the incoming ball, flicking it inside the near post with the inside of his trailing foot.
"I was calling Eddie for the ball and I knew I just had to get a touch on it," Glen said after the game. "I am not sure why I back-heeled it, but it was just instinct."
The 22-year old Glenn was acquired by the MetroStars on March 30, 2004 from Trinidadian club CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh and was making his first MLS start.
Streaming video highlights and goals from MLS games are available for viewing every weekend on MLSnet.com just hours after the conclusion of the final match of the weekend. The Sierra Mist Goal of the Week winner is announced the following Wednesday.
At the end of the regular season, each of the 29 Goal of the Week winners selected throughout the season will be featured in voting for the Sierra Mist MLS Goal of the Year, an award presented annually to the author of the season's most spectacular scoring play. The Sierra Mist Goal of the Year award will be presented at the annual Gala Awards ceremony in the days leading up to MLS Cup 2004.

Cornell Glen in a hurry to get started.

By Ives Galarcep - Herald News.
22-Apr-2004 - East Rutherford - Cornell Glen didn't know much about Major League Soccer the first time he faced the Chicago Fire. The Trinidad native was playing for San Juan Jabloteh when he faced the Fire in March in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Glen ravaged Chicago's defense for three goals and an assist in a 5-2 win, a performance that let him know he could succeed in MLS.
It was all the MetroStars needed to see as well. Having failed in five attempts at beating Chicago, the Metros knew Glenn had something special to offer. Team officials were making calls to Trinidad before the March match and two days later they were in talks with Glenn. Two weeks later, the Metros had their man, beating out the Fire for Glenn's services. The team used the allocation they received for Clint Mathis' departure to sign Glen, 22, as a transitional international.
"He's got a dimension in terms of his combination of speed and strength," said Metros coach Bob Bradley. "That day (against the Chicago Fire), his finishing was unbelievable. He scored left-footed and right-footed. Everything he touched turned to gold."
A member of the Trinidad & Tobago national team with 11 international appearances, Glenn is a powerfully built striker capable of speeding past defenders as well as powering them off the ball. He led San Juan Jabloteh to a pair of league titles (2002-03) before joining the Metros, a move Glenn is hoping will lead to an eventual career in Europe.
"I thought it was a great opportunity for me," said Glenn. "My goal is to play in England, in the Premiership, and I see this as a good chance to move toward that, to use this as a springboard to Europe."
Glen is hoping to follow in the footsteps of compatriot and former Columbus Crew standout Stern John, who parlayed a solid career in Columbus into a career in Europe. John, a key figure on the national team, sees Glenn as the tiny Caribbean nation's next star.
"(Glen's) pace is frightening," John told the Trinidad & Tobago Express. "And, once he learns to use it properly, he will do very well. "I think he is a good player and hopefully he will get that extra experience in the MLS."
It took some time for Glenn's work permit to be processed, but now that he is here, the leading scorer in the Trinidadian league is poised to throw his hat into a very crowded ring at the forward spot for the Metros. With Jamaican striker Fabian Taylor staking his claim to a starting spot after his two-goal performance Saturday, and pricey Argentine forward Sergio Galvan Rey also arriving, Glen will have his hands full with fighting for playing time. Both he and Galvan Rey arrived in time to be on the bench for Saturday's 3-2 win against D.C., but neither entered the match.
"Ever since I've known myself I've been a starter," said Glen, who is still working himself back into shape after taking several weeks off during the transfer process. "That's my goal, to work hard and get on the starting team and keep my place on the starting team. To do that, I have to score goals and perform."
Bradley is banking on the wealth of forwards creating an atmosphere that will allow them.
"It's going to keep everyone on their toes" said Bradley. "It's a long season. We'll miss guys because of (national team) call-ups and you also have injuries to deal with. We're going to need every one of our forwards."

Stern praise for Glen..'We complement each other'

Playing Away With: Lasana Liburd.
21-Apr-2004 - Trinidad and Tobago star forward Stern John gave a hint about his preferred strike partner last Saturday as he praised United States Major League Soccer (MLS) bound attacker Cornell Glen.
John, the most prolific T&T goal scorer since ex-Portugal-based striker and Vibe CT 105 W. Connection youth coach Leonson Lewis, believes that Glen's mobility alongside his strength and positional play could make an irresistible combination for the "Soca Warriors".
"His pace is frightening," said John, "and, once he learns to use it properly, he will do very well. It should complement me, too, because I can hold the ball up and play.
"I think he is a good player and hopefully he will get that extra experience in the MLS."
John knows all about the benefits of US football-or rather, soccer.
After brief stints at Mercer College, North Carolina and New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers, John made an indelible mark on the North American game with two freescoring seasons for MLS outfit Columbus Crew.
It led to a £1.5 million move in 1999 to English Division One club, Nottingham Forest, who he left to help steer Birmingham City into the Premier League two seasons ago.
John's US stint marked the start of an impressive international career as he cemented his place in the starting line-up, despite a string of talented options, including Dwight Yorke, Arnold Dwarika, Jerren Nixon and Lewis himself.
Glen, who established himself with Pro League outfit CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh last season after a spell in the Portugal lower divisions, would do well to follow that blueprint.
More importantly, John believes that the positive work ethic and team camaraderie that existed during national coach Bertille St Clair's last stint at the helm is already returning.
T&T's recent 2-1 defeat away to Egypt, he insisted, was in another league from their 2-0 loss to Morocco last year.
"Normally, when we go two goals down, the boys' heads drop," he said. "But this time we never stopped fighting and we got a goal ourselves. And we played good football, too.
"There is just no comparison to our match against Morocco, which was a nightmare
"We still have a long way to go, but it was more encouraging to see the guys pulling together on and off the field."
Birmingham play Midland rivals, Wolverhampton, on Sunday with a UEFA Champions League place still within sight. It is a massive incentive for John, whose contract expires in June but who has been offered a new deal by the club and, at present, is finalising terms.
The 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign and his new strike partnership with Glen, he hopes, would offer a perfect fillip.

Glen targets more goals for MetroStars.

By Shaun Fuentes.
06-Apr-2004 - Local striker Cornell Glen was approached by New York/New Jersey Metrostars two days after scoring a hattrick in CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh's 5-2 win over Chicago Fire in last month's CONCACAF Champion's Cup match. A couple weeks later, Glenn put pen to paper on a three-year contract while in Cairo, Egypt with the National team as Metrostars officials were eager to get him on their roster.
The 23-year-old Glen is looking forward to continuing his career in the MLS which saw several T&T players pass through including Stern John, David Nakhid, Mickey Trotman, Evans Wise, Ansil Elcock, Keyeno Thomas and Travis Mulraine among others.
Glen earlier spent four days on trial at English Club Derby County along with Silvio Spann and also had a stint with Northampton Town in February. He however held no doubts over joining the MLS.
"From the moment I got the opportunity I knew it was one I had to take right away if I wanted to make that jump in my career. It's really a step to continue developing as a professional player and I had no doubts about moving to the MLS. You always look to Europe when it comes to playing abroad but with this move can lead to better things for me and I will be aiming to score as many goals," said Glenn who spent two years in the Portuguese Second Division with Association Deportivo.
He also credited Jabloteh for helping him develop as a player saying "I thought at first it would have been difficult coming to Jabloteh but the guys welcomed me with open arms and I was comfortable there. Coach Terry Fenwick also brought a professional atmosphere to the club and that helped me perform. I know now I will need to work harder to achieve more in the MLS because my sights are set on playing in Europe," added the ex-Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive hitman who joins Jamaican Fabian Taylor, Brazilian Gilberto Flores and Bolivian Joselito Vaca as new additions to the club.
Metrostars opened their MLS campaign with a 3-1 win over Columbus Crew on the weekend and now Glen will be hoping for a debut against DC United on April 17 in New York.

Glen becomes the team’s third transitional international, joining Bolivian Joselito Vaca and Jamaican Fabian Taylor. On the club level, Glen has spent the last two years with CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh of the Trinidad and Tobago Pro-League. He led the team to two consecutive league championships in 2002 and 2003 to mark the only titles in team history, scoring 26 goals in 2003 and 12 in 2002. Jabloteh won the 2002 championship with a record of 19 wins, 12 ties, and two losses for 65 points, then won in 2003 with a 29-5-2 mark for a staggering 92 points and scoring 113 goals. Glen also spent just over one year with Portuguese club Association Deportivo before joining San Juan Jabloteh.
Glen scored a first half hat-trick and registered an assist on another goal on March 17 against the Chicago Fire to carry Jabloteh to a 5-2 win, in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Quarterfinal series in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Glen is expected to receive a sizeable increase in his monthly salary at the New York MetroStars, in excess of $6,500.00 USD. The MetroStars will play their opening match on the road against Ansil Elcock's former club Columbus Crew on the 3rd of April, with their first home match carded for April 17th against teenage sensation Freddy Adu’s DC United. TRANSACTION: The MetroStars acquired Cornell Glen as a Transitional International via an Allocation, Transitional means (22-24 years old) International player who does not count against team's 3-man Senior International limit.

Cornell Glen holds up Northampton trial.

By Shaun Fuentes.
11-Feb-2004 - Cornell Glen has held back on going on trial with English Second Division club Northampton Town. The talented CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh man was expected to fly out alongside local defender Anton Pierre but said he decided to play T&T’s two friendlies with Bermuda this week which would enhance his chances of securing a work permit to play in the United Kingdom.
“My agent suggested that it would be better to stay with the team and get the caps which would make it easier for me to get the permit. But definitely the chance to go on trial with Northampton is still an option,” Glen said. Other local-based pros, Arnold Dwarika, Nigel Pierre, Jerren Nixon and Keyeno Thomas all left earlier this month for trial in China.
Meantime, goalkeeper Kelvin Jack returned home on Wednesday following a three-week stay in England during which time he was on trial at Walsall, Northampton and Gillingham. Through the efforts of representative Terry Fenwick, word is that Jack is likely to be offered a contract with Gillingham.

28-Jan-2004 - Jabloteh’s Cornell Glen and Defence Force’s Anton Pierre are scheduled to join Northampton for trial later this week.
According to Northampton Chief Executive Officer Peter Miller, both players have caught the eye of club officials and will be looked at. “The interest in these players have always been there and particularly as the interest in the club continues to grow following our FA Cup game against Manchester United last week, we are aiming to strengthen the squad,” said Miller. San Juan Jabloteh goalkeeper Kelvin Jack is also now on trial at English Third Division club Northampton Town.

Cornell Glen looks to Europe.

By Joel Bailey.
11-Jan-2004 - Cornell Glen, like any other local footballer, has set his sights on playing the game in Europe, at least if fate is kind to him.
The 23-year-old striker, who is in his second successive season with CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh, is hopeful of playing “abroad and to do so, especially in England, you must have a certain amount of caps and that’s really my goal right now.” Glenn should not worry about securing regular caps (appearances) with the national senior team as he has become an established member of the squad during the latter stages of 2003. He has an unfancied record of one goal in 11 matches for the TT team since making his debut in November 2002 but he has earned plaudits from fans and coaches for his pace, consistency and determination on the field. In his first season back with Jabloteh, after a one-year stint in Portugal in 2000, Glen scored 12 goals for the San Juan-based club as they secured the Professional Football League crown. And the slimly-built forward has netted 20 goals as Jabloteh seems on course to retain their title, with the 2002/2003 season drawing to a close.
Glen has been living in Cocorite for all his life with a large family of four sisters and three brothers. “Ever since I’ve known myself I’ve been playing football. I just love the game, just love playing football.” He became a regular member of the Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive team and, under national Under-20 coach Ron La Forest, in a team which included current Jabloteh and national team-mates Kerry Baptiste and Josh Johnson, guided his school to the North Zone title in the 1997 Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL). He related: “I enjoyed playing back then.” And, with Baptiste and Johnson as integral factors of his success, he added: “It’s just like school days. Once I have good team-mates to provide me with the ball, I’ll always score goals.” From Mucurapo, he had a brief loan spell with Jabloteh, scoring twice during the 1999 Semi Professional League, before joining Futgof, under late coach Arthur “Jap” Brown for the remainder of the season.
After the Carenage-based club was expelled from the league for financial and disciplinary reasons Glen, Futgof teammate Sean Cooper and ex-Joe Public player Wesley John, earned contracts with Portuguese club Adsanjonese. But Glen was plagued with a thigh injury during his year-long stay at the club, with a slim tally of three goals. “I grew a lot and learnt a lot when I was over there,” Glenn noted simply. He also had a chance of returning to Europe on a full-time basis in early-2002 — coming close to signing with English Second Division club 'Peterborough' but, due to his lack of caps, could not obtain a work permit. He also donned the national colours at the Under-20 level, with the likes of Garvin McKenna, Ryan Edwards, Jefferson George and Ashford Legerton, during the CONCACAF qualifiers for the 1999 World Championship qualifiers for Nigeria.
Glenn tried his hands in all positions on the field, stating: “I love the game so much that anywhere a coach puts me on the field I could play and will play. I like to score goals and I prefer to be a striker.” However, it is shocking to know that his favourite player is not a striker but a midfielder, the current FIFA World Player of the Year Zinedine Zidane. “He’s one of the best players, after Maradona, I’ve ever seen play the game,” he admitted. What is Glen like outside of football? “I’m playful, I like to enjoy myself. I’m 23 and I see myself as a kid still and I like the simple things in life.” And it is Glen’s simple way on the field, which can propel him to even bigger and better things.
