Clayton Ince inspires young keepers.

02-Jan-2005 - They may have to settle for a place on the sidelines in next
Wednesday’s important World Cup qualifying match against the United States,
but young national senior team goalkeepers Duarance and Jan Michael Williams
won’t frown over the rest from coach Bertille St Clair.
Reason for this is simply because the two custodians have gained experience and
continue to admire Portsmouth goalie Shaka Hislop and Clayton Ince, the two men
who will be donning the shirts come Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Williams (D) was in the team for yesterday’s friendly against
Haiti along with Ince.
Jan Michael Williams, meantime, has been on the fringe of selection after making
his debut against Botswana last year.
“I think we look up to Shaka and Clayton and training with them as well as
(Michael) Maurice has helped us a lot,” said Duarance, of CL Financial San
Juan Jabloteh.
“We know our time will come and it’s important that we continue to take as
much off these guys while they are still around. My aim is to play in the
English League one day,”
The 20-year-old Jan Michael, a former national Under-17, Under-20 and St
Anthony’s College goalie, is hoping for another break soon.
“I haven’t played a full international game in a while, but I’m patiently
waiting to step in and I know with the right sort of guidance from the more
experienced players, I’ll be able to hold my own between the sticks,” the W
Connection custodian said.
