Gary Glasgow hopes for Stars transfer.
T&T Guardian Reports.
19-Oct-2005 - The transfer of out-of-favour national striker Gary Glasgow from
Chinese club Gaungzhou FC to local pro-club National Quarries North East Stars
seems set for a positive ending.
Contacted last week, Stars owner Darryl Mahabir said that he received
information from the T&T Football Federation, which indicated that
Glasgow, who also enjoyed spells in the MLS and US Soccer A League, would be
given a temporary transfer.
Glasgow was originally targeted by Stars as one of their possible new signings
during the PFL transfer window, which closed on September 14.
His move, however, was held up after Stars were unable to get his
International Transfer Clearance in time from the Chinese club.
“It seems that we will have to wait until Monday to get his official release
because the Chinese officials have requested that the T&T Football
Federation re-submit its request for his transfer on behalf of our club,”
said Mahabir.
Mahabir was, however, hopeful that the transfer would be completed by noon on
Monday so that Glasgow, who has been training with Stars for the last couple
of weeks, would be able to make his debut for the club in the PFL match
against CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium,
Mucurapo, from 6 pm yesterday.
The Stars fielded Walter Moore in their squad for the penalty shoot-out win
over WASA Clean & White in the Toyota Classic last Friday , after he got
his international transfer clearance. However, Jaffar Munroe, a striker from
Montserrat, did not get his and was forced to return to Montserrat.

20-Sept-2005 - The transfer of out-of-favour national striker Gary Glasgow
from Chinese club Gaungzhou FC to local pro-club National Quarries North East
Stars was not completed when the T&T Professional Football League transfer
window closed on Thursday.
This was so because Glasgow’s former owners seems reluctant to respond to
the request of Stars’ owner Darryl Mahabir.
Contacted yesterday, an upset Mahabir said that Glasgow would not be able to
play for his club when the First Citizens’ Bank Cup kicks of today because
his transfer documents from China were not processed.
“It’s a very sad situation, because the guy just wants to play football
and it looks as though they are keen on denying him a chance to earn a living.
In addition to Glasgow, Stars were also awaiting the international transfer
clearance to complete the deals of Walter Moore of Guyana, who now plays in
Suriname, and striker Jaffar Munroe of Montserrat.
The trio were the only players among eight whose transfers were not completed
when the extended deadline closed on Thursday.
The PFL had originally given September 14 as the transfer deadline, but
because the clubs were only awaiting the international transfer clearances a
decision was taken to extend the deadline.
Stars will still be able to sign the trio once their papers are forwarded to
the T&T Football Federation and then to the PFL.
The other local clubs mainly, CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh, Tobago United
and Caledonia, all managed to get deals for internationals players completed.
Jabloteh completed the signing of talked-about Jamaican midfielder Keith Kelly
from top Jamaican club, Arnett Gardens, while Tobago had its request for
transfers of Nigerian players Aminu Erinle, 22, and Samsideen Olutunji Quadri,
21, from the Football Academy of Lagos confirmed. Caledonia AIA/Fire acquired
striker Oneke Forde of Jamaica’s Sporting Central and Stephan David of

professional League season before he makes a decision on a new club.
The speedy former Defence Force man closed ties with Guangzhou Xiangxue
earlier this year and has been back home training with the National team.
“At the moment I’m trying to focus on the training with the National team.
I’m working on getting my form going again and hopefully that will lead to
better things.
“I’m waiting on the season to start again when, hopefully, I’ll go back
to China and link up with a different club,” Glasgow said. Teammate Arnold
Dwarika also returned home recently following a season in China.

24-Sept-2003 - Former Defence Force striker Gary Glasgow continues to be in
good form in the Chinese Professional League, helping his team to a 1-1 draw
with Qingdao Helifang on the weekend.
Glasgow, has been with Gaungzhou FC for the past few months and is among their
topscorers with eight goals.
He came up against Vibe CT 105 W Connection striker Earl Jean who is on loan
with Helifang. “We both had good games and Gary is in ripping form at the
moment. He has about eight goals and his team is at the top of the league
while my club is trying to get off the bottom. But the football here is of a
good standard and we are both settling well,” Jean said on Monday.
The St Lucian marksman, playing up front alongside Argentine striker Mario
Osvaldo, set up his team’s equaliser against Glasgow’s team in injury
time.

Gary Glasgow attracts German interest.
By: Shaun Fuentes.
28-May-2002- Gary Glasgow has attracted interest from German Bundesliga two
club SVV Elversberg.
The former Defence Force striker who was waived by American MLS club Kansas
City Wizards last week was told this by local teammate Evans Wise who recently
left the German club for a move to another Second Division team.
Glasgow, who requested a leave fro Wizards, has also attracted interest from
American A-League clubs Rochester Rhinos, Portland Timbers and Richmond
Kickers, his former club. Glasgow said that his best option so far may be a
move to Hampton Road Mariners. In the meantime, he hopes to get back his match
fitness. "I haven't played in some time so my form which was good in
preseason isn't all that at the moment. A couple more matches should get me
moving again," said Glasgow.
Gary Glasgow: I asked for a release from Kansas.
By: By Shaun Fuentes.
25-May-2002 - Trinidad and Tobago forward Gary Glasgow is now out of Kansas
City Wizards upon request and will be returning to campaign in the American
A-League over the next three months.
The speedy marksman, speaking to TTFF Media on Friday, explained that while
reports stated he had been waived by Kansas City Wizards, it was not a
situation where the club management decided to get rid of him, but rather a
mutual decision that he be allowed to move on. He is expected to join A-League
club Hampton Road Mariners.
The 26-year-old Glasgow said earlier this year that he was hopeful of leaving
the club because of a lack of appearances, but following a series of good
performances in the CONCACAF Champions Cup against local side Vibe CT 105 W
Connection, and other preseason matches for Kansas in Argentina, Glasgow
decided to stick around hoping his luck would change. Coach Bob Gansler did
include Glasgow in the starting line-up in the opening MLS season game but
then left him on the bench again soon after. Out of Wizards' seven matches
this season, he has made two starting appearances and one off the bench.
"Since we played W Connection I had been asking the club to leave because
I just wasn't getting sufficient playing time. It wasn't a situation where I
was playing bad but I just wasn't making the coach's team. I had a good
preseason and the I did play the first game of the season. But then again I
was left on the bench. I went to them and said that either I get playing time
or they release me and allow me to move on. They (Club management) asked for
some time and to think about the situation over last month and then decided
that they would let me go," Glasgow said from Kansas.
The former Malick Senior Comprehensive striker spent three years at Wizards
with one more remaining.
"Now I am just looking to get back into playing matches so I will be
going to Hampton and play there for probably the next three months before
looking at other options available," added Glasgow. He mentioned that his
former A-League club Richmond Kickers have also expressed interest in
reacquiring his services.
Another local player, forward Darin Lewis was also waived by MLS club New
York/New Jersey Metrostars on Friday leaving only defender Rick Titus,a
defender eligible of representing Canada and T&T, playing in the MLS with
Colorado Rapids.

continued their successful preseason with a 4-2 win over world renown River
Plate in their first game in Argentina. The Wizards scored two first half
goals and added two more in the second half. River Plate, who's lineup
featured a handful of first team starters but was made up primarily of
reserves, scored both their goals in the second half. Kansas City's win
improved their overall preseason record to 5-0-1, including the Florida leg of
preseason. The Wizards have outscored their opponents 17-4 in those six games.
Among the scorers where T&T's Gary Glasgow who scored a 41st minute goal
from a Diego Gutierrez assist, Glasgow who had an impressive run aganist W
Connection got the start for the Wizards aganist Argentine gaints- River
Plate. The Wizards will continue to train and scrimmage in Argentina through
Tuesday, March 12th, they will then return home to face T&T and 2001
Caribbean Club Champion- W Connection.
W Connection FC of Trinidad will also face the Dallas Burn on Wednesday, March
13 at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Texas at Dallas. Tickets for Wednesday's
match are $5. Former T&T standout and the Dallas Burn assistant coach
Brian Haynes will be vying to stop Connection. Brian Haynes is beginning his
second year on the coaching staff. In his four-plus years with the Burn,
Haynes played in 77 regular season games, scoring eight goals while adding six
assists. He was the fourth-leading scorer on the team in 1996 with four goals
and three assists for 11 points.
Prior to joining the Burn, Haynes played indoor for the Kansas City Attack and
outdoor with the Orlando Lions, the Mary land Bays and the Colorado Foxes.

Gary Glasgow set to open season in Trinidad.
TEAMtalk News.
27-Feb-2002 – Kansas City’s first stop of the 2002 season will be a
homecoming for forward Trinidad & Tobago international Gary Glasgow.
Glasgow leads the Wizards to his native country to face Vibe CT 105 W
Connection in their first game of the Champions Cup on March 3.
W Connection feature four of Glasgow’s international team mates in veteran
Reynold Carrington, Addison Belfon, David Atiba George, and former MLS player
Travis Mulraine.
Glasgow expects a good fight and knows Kansas City must come prepared to play.
“I know a couple guys on the team. They will come out (strong). The first
ten minutes might be a little fight until we settle down, but once we play our
football, I don’t see them giving us too much trouble.”
W Connection also feature a heavy Brazilian influence with over eight members
of the squad from the South American nation. However, one of those, playmaker
Jefferson Goulart, is reportedly out with a fractured ankle.
W Connection earned a berth in this tournament by becoming Trinidad’s PFL
(their first division) Champions, and they were also the Caribbean Club
Champions.
As for Glasgow, he is anxious to get the season started and has put last
season’s nagging injuries behind him. “As of right now, there’s nothing
to talk about, so I’m feeling good.”
With the departure of his strike-mate Onandi Lowe, Glasgow says it’s time
for him and the other forwards to step up the attack. “We have to do it by
concentrating more and look to our sets,” said Glasgow.
“I’m looking to score goals and get more assists to help my team out.”
He also wants fans “to come out and support us every game.”
Since Trinidad & Tobago did not qualify for the 2002 World Cup, Glasgow
will not have to worry about interrupting his MLS season. “This year I’m
going to enjoy the football and try to make it a little exciting for the fans,
as well as try and get wins.”
He’s hoping the first of those wins comes on his home soil on March 3.
Gary Glasgow recalled to T&T.
08-Jan-2002 - Kansas City Wizards striker Gary
Glasgow was re-called to Trinidad and Tobago for the 2002 CONCACAF Gold Cup
tournament.
Along with Hibernian midfielder Lyndon Andrews, the two foreign-based players
replace Reading utility player Anthony Rougier and Lebanese-based striker
Errol McFarlane Jr, who declined the invitation to join the “Soca
Warriors” and will instead focus on their club careers.
Glasgow will inject some much needed firepower for the Soca Warriors who
played well during the unsuccessful World Cup Qualifying campaign even though
he only has four international goals from 32 appearances. He scored twice this
season for the Wizards in 18 matches.
Glasgow is the second MLS player named to the T&T roster with veteran
Columbus defender Ancil Elcock on the original list.
Glasgow played in the 1998 Gold Cup under ex-coach Bertille St Clair, while
Andrews was selected for the 1996 and 1998 tournaments.
Neither managed a spot in the 2000 edition when Trinidad and Tobago—again
led by St Clair—finished a creditable joint-fourth and were the second-best
CONCACAF team on show behind Canada.
Full squad training for the Gold Cup begins on Tuesday.
Gary Glasgow comes good.
