The Mid-Continent University men's soccer team has yet to play its first conference match since joining the American Midwest Conference, but the Cougars have already earned an AMC Player of the Week nod.

Keagan Bacchus used a five-point outburst in his first game of his senior season to earn the AMC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor for the week ending August 25, 2013.

Bacchus, a 6'1" Senior Forward from Pt. Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago, scored twice in the Cougars' first victory of the season – a 3-1 win over Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon at the Judson University (Ill.) Invitational. In the 17th minute, Bacchus earned his first point of the season by tallying an assist on a goal from teammate Jan Chvojan. Just under Three minutes later, Bacchus netted what proved to be the game winning goal as the two forwards for Mid-Continent reversed roles, with Chvojan feeding Bacchus to stretch the MCU lead to 2-0. With exactly 61 minutes in the books, Bacchus tallied an insurance marker for the Cougars, this time converting a feed from Jose Garcia and providing the Cougars final margin of victory.

The honor is Bacchus' first of the season, and when you Mid-Continent's time in the TranSouth Athletic Conference, it is his second such honor of his career.

Keagan and Mid-Continent will look to improve on their 1-1 start this weekend when they hit the road to take part in the Georgetown College (Ky.) Tiger Classic on Friday and Saturday.
