After scoring the game-winning goal against IPFW on Oct. 3 and helping Oakland maintain a perfect 3-0 record in league play, junior Makesi Lewis was named The Summit League Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.

Lewis was credited with the game-winning goal in Oakland’s victory over IPFW last Saturday. His first-half marker gave the Golden Grizzlies the lead in an eventual 2-0 league win. Lewis’ game-winner was his first of the year and gave him three goals and seven points on the season. This is the Diego Martin, Trinidad native’s second offensive accolade this season, having previously earned the honor on Sept. 8.

The junior forward shares the weekly honor with Western Illinois’ Jonathan Sandoval.

The Golden Grizzlies will have a week off before continuing league play against IUPUI on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac, Mich. It will also be Senior Night and the 7 p.m. match can be followed on Gametracker at www.ougrizzlies.com.
