Playing on Wasa’s St Joseph home ground, the teams were well matched for most of the contest and seemed set to share the points until Christian De Freitas broke the deadlock in the 81st minute to give Harvard the winning goal.

Wasa’s Damian Fraser received the only booking of the match — a red card — summing up the kind of day that his team was having.

Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix were the most convincing winners in yesterday’s matches as they ran past Media 21 FC 3-1 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima.

Junior Waldron responded for Media 21 in the 47th minute but Rachley Joseph put victory beyond them in the 73rd minute when he got Phoenix’s third goal.

Winners of the 2003 competition, Crab Connection, were held 2-2 by Police in their match on the San Juan Senior Comprehensive School’s ground at Bourg Malatresse.

Connection took the lead in the 11th minute as Jason Sampson put in the opening goal. That lead lasted untill the 58th minute when Kareem Joseph got Police’s first goal.

Police then went ahead 2-1 when Neil Joseph scored in the 60th minute but Marvin Oliver’s 64th minute strike made sure that the teams shared the points.

At Gilbert Park in California, Central football kings Plipdeco Caroni had to recover from a late Stokeley Vale charge to salvage a 2-2 draw.

Kyle Cupid scored for Caroni to give them the lead in the 30th minute which they took into the interval. On the resumption, Stokely Vale’s Warren Phillips and Darron Williams were on target for Stokely Vale in the 70th and 72nd minutes and Kyle Cupid scored his second goal in the 87th minute to salvage a point for Caroni.
