Defence Force moved into third on the T&T Super League table in League One on Thursday when they shut-out Bethel FC 3-1 at the Mt Gomery Recreation Ground in Tobago.

The army/coastguard combination outfit will now attempt to take the lead tomorrow when they come up against Queen’s Park CC at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva from 4pm as Round Six action resumes with matches across T&T.

Playing in the sister isle of Tobago for the first time this season, the Army Coast Guard Combination were determined to recover points they dropped in earlier matches, and they got the perfect start when Kevon Blackman fired them into the lead in the 36th and Stephen Antoine gave them a two-goal cushion in the 45th.

The Army thought it had a two-goal advantage going to the interval, but the hometeam got surprised two minutes into time added on time, when Rohan Sebro caught its defence in celebratory mood, and fired his shot past the Army goalkeeper to reduce its deficit to a 2-1 half-time scoreline.

Both teams exchanged attacks for most of the second period, until Aaron Lester sealed the win in the 90th minute to push the Army to 12 points and in third place on the standing with an inferior goal difference to FC Santa Rosa. The standing is still being led by Guaya United (15 points) which will go into action against Bethel FC at Mt Gomery from 6pm, while Santa Rosa will square off with 1976 Phoenix FC at the Canaan Bon Accord Recreation Ground from 5pm.

In other games, WASA will host Club Sando at St Joseph from 4:30pm: UTT will face Police at the O’Meara Campus Ground in Arima and newcomers Cunupia FC will come up against Siparia Spurs, 4pm at Larry Gomes Stadium.

Today in League Two action, leaders Central 500 Spartans will meet Petit Valley United FC from 4pm at the Diego Martin North Secondary School: Youth Stars face Marabella Family Crisis Centre at the Roxborough Complex at 5pm and Harlem Strikers will have a date with Perseverance Ball Runners at Frederick Settlement at 6pm.
