T&TEC of the Southern Football Association and East/West Coaching School of the Eastern Football Association will be campaigning in the National Super League next season. When the qualifying tournament ended on Thursday, T&TEC, paced by a goal each from Brent Garcia (61st) and Daniel Garcia (66th), defeated Tobago’s Georgia United 2-0 on the Palo Seco Recreation ground.

With the victory, T&TEC, which played unbeaten, finished the six-team competition with 13 points to top the standings ahead of East/West Coaching School. A goal in the 78th minute by Michael Alexis was enough for East/West to stop Queen’s Park, of the Northern Football Association, 2-1 at Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya.

The game was tied 1-1 for a long period before the strike by Alexis, who had earlier put the easterners ahead in the seventh minute only for Roberto Marquez to equalise for the Parkites three minutes later. East/West, which also played undefeated, completed its schedule with 11 points. Although beaten, Georgia managed to finish third ahead of Leeds United of the Central Football Association.

Leeds won its first match in the competition by edging cellar-placed Biche United, of the Eastern Counties Football Union, 1-0 at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva. The lone goal of the match was scored by Michael Renaud in the 17th minute. University of T&T, Harvard and Crab Connection, the teams finishing in the three last places in the Super League, will be demoted.
