TOTW 2008 is an exciting year for the Warrior Nation and Trinidad and Tobago football on the whole! On the heels of our momentous performance in the 2006 World Cup, qualification matches for the 2010 World Cup are soon approaching and the mouthwatering anticipation of witnessing our Soca Warriors come up against the best in CONCACAF is frantically building. With a new coach at the helm, new players to bolster the previous World Cup squad and a few creditable performances against CONCACAF rivals this year, the prospect of recapturing the glory of 2006 is on the minds of all T&T football fans. In light of this, the Warrior Nation has embarked on yet another groundbreaking project that is sure to be of interest to all stakeholders of T&T football. Enter---The Warrior Nation Team of the Week (TOTW). TOTW is basically a simulation selection of the T&T men’s national team displayed in a unique and colorful illustration. Each week the spotlight will be placed on T&T football’s peak performers as they excel at their respective professional football clubs.

Darryl Robers Web Chat

Log on to thewarriornation.com on Friday February 29th 2008 at 2 PM (EST) for a live WebChat with one of Trinidad and Tobago’s emerging strikers, Darryl Roberts. One of six Soca Warriors plying their trade on top flight teams in Europe, the 24 year old Sparta Rotterdam striker is quickly being recognized by the T&T football fraternity as a key player in the Soca Warriors push to regain the glory achieved at the 2006 World Cup. During his educational pursuits, Darryl has played for Fatima College, Liberty University and USL PDL club, Carolina Dynamo. He has received numerous honors and accolades for his accomplishments on the aforementioned teams and also spurred interest from Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam and Toronto FC (MLS). In February 2007 Darryl was drafted by Toronto FC, but chose to accept an offer from Sparta Rotterdam to play in the Dutch Eredivisie. On his debut for Sparta in April 2007 against SC Heerenveen, Darryl scored his first goal within two minutes of stepping onto the field. Since then he has made a crucial impact on the Club’s top flight survival by scoring 7 goals in 13 starting appearances and 11 as a substitute.

The Warrior Nation is seeking your assistance in finding a youth team that may be in need of 17 numbered (2-18) Umbro uniforms (jerseys only) which were donated to us by one of our members from Canada. The uniforms are in good condition, are blue with yellow sleeves (Fatima colours) as you can see from the two pictures attached. There are 12 Large, 4 Medium and 1 Small. The crest for Flamborough Soccer Club is on the jersey but is not too conspicuous. If there are any teams that may need these uniforms for the upcoming Trinidad & Tobago Cup from March 24th - 29th please let us know by contacting This email address is being protected from spambots. Clive Pantin, CEO of FEEL, greets Brian "Patriot" Springer


Though things were looking bleak for a while, our first annual food drive was a successful one. In true Trini style, most of the contributors waited until the last minute to drop off their items. The benefactor of this drive was FEEL (Foundation for the Enhancement and Enrichment of Life). In addition to food, they were also presented with a cheque in the amount of $2,000 TTD.

Rodney WilkesOn Saturday morning, December 22nd, the Warrior Nation paid a visit to one of Trinidad & Tobago's sporting heroes, Rodney Wilkes, at his home in San Fernando. The 82-year old, former national weightlifter, and Hall of Famer was the recipient of a Christmas food hamper that was filled with donations from Warrior Nation members and employees of the Ministry of Works, Arima office. The Mighty Midget as he is affectionately known, appreciated our gesture of goodwill, and wished our club well in our endeavours. For those of you who may not have heard of Mr. Wilkes or do not know of his achievements, we have included the bio that appears with his Hall of Fame entry. Just to give you an idea of his status, he is regarded as one of the top Olympic weightlifters of the 20th century.

The 2008 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Soca Warriors Supporters Club, which is provided for by Article 2.6 of the By-Laws, will be held on Tuesday, March 18th via Internet. The AGM shall commence at 8:30pm Eastern Standard Time and shall continue as determined by the President.

Patriot and ShakaGoalkeeper Neil Shaka Hislop, who retired from football back in September, was presented with an award by the Warrior Nation for his service to Trinidad & Tobago football. It was one of many awards that he received at the first annual Shaka Hislop Tribute Cup that was held on November 30th and December 2nd at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. The crowd turnout was poor, but nevertheless, a good time was had by all and we wish Shaka all the success in his new role as President of FPATT. Play yuhself big man!
