In an apparent immediate falling out over the decision to appoint Dennis Lawrene as T&T senior men’s national football team coach, former national midfielder Dexter Skeene has quit his post as chairman of the T&TFA Technical Committee.

The man who headed this country into the 2006 World Cup is expected to be handed the coaching reins of the national football team to try to get T&T’s 2018 World Cup campaign headed in the right direction.

The wait for the new national men’s football coach will be over on Monday when the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) finally announces who will succeed Belgium’s Tom Saintfiet following his short reign at the helm of local football.

The country’s next national football coach will be chosen from a shortlist of three, comprising Colombian Francisco Maturana, St Lucian Stuart Charles Fevrier, the W Connection coach and Englishman Terry Fenwick, a former San Juan Jabloteh coach, as the search continues for a replacement for Tom Saintfiet.

The Board of Directors of the T&T Football Association has sent a strong message to the Technical Committee -- ‘Do your job and let us do ours.’

There is no space for excuses, ifs and buts, not even a decent reason why the game in this country has plummeted into total misery to the fans.
