The Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) distributed 52 TTFF/KNVB C license certificates in coaching at the Harvard Sport’s Club, Tragarete Road, St James on Sunday.
The KNVB or Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond - Royal Netherlands Football Association is named after the Dutch Football Federation, accommodated local coaches and was carried out by six TTFF coaching instructors: Anton Corneal, Marlon Charles, Richard Hood, Rajeesh Latchu, Hayden Martin and Jamaal Shabazz.
Among the 52 recipients where former national team goalkeeper Clayton Ince, Nigel Pierre, Marlon Wiltshire, Anthony Rougier, and Gilbert Bateau.
TTFF Technical Director Anton Corneal in his opening remarks announced that the TTFF would be offering a B License course in November Corneal also mentioned that the Caribbean Football Union ( CFU) and FIFA are in discussions to implement a license which is equivalent to the UEFA B and the Brazilian advance lenience.
“I did have the opportunity to speak with FIFA and all the technical directors in the Caribbean, one of the things I brought up was why do we (The Caribbean) have to go to Brazil, Germany, UEFA and the US to get our highest possible license, its interesting “said Corneal.
“We have to put a proposal together so that the CFU can come up with a licence that is equivalent to the UEFA B and the Brazilian advance lenience.
They have already given us the authorization what they did ask (FIFA) is the people designing the program design it with EUFA, the Dutch academy and the Brazilian academy. We are bringing this information together in June and design a course, which would be recognized by FIFA at the highest possible level.
The TTFF also mourns the loss of former national trainer and physiotherapist David Cumberbatch. Cumberbatch also had various stints at Joe Public, Ma Pau, QPCC, T&T Cricket team and Fatima College.
Former national goal keeper Clayton Ince describes the loss as major to the local sporting fraternity “He was always hard working and committed to youth players he tried his best to keep players healthy and fit, It was sad hearing the news this morning he will surely be missed.”
