National women’s team player Mariah Shade believes her time with French Second Division team Union Sportive Rouvroy will push her to becoming a better player as she looks ahead to several more international appearances for the Women Soca Warriors outfit.

Shade has played one game and scored for her club a few weeks ago on her debut and she netted a perfectly executed effort in the 5-1 win over Guyana on Tuesday in Houston, USA.

“It’s a great experience for me so far being able to get a feel of professional women’s football in Europe. I’ve settled in well at the club and I’ve gotten my first game and my first goal out of the way. I think it’s a good development for me personally and I am looking forward to see how the rest of the season goes as I am on a five-month contract with the club,” Shade said.

Commenting on the T&T team’s performance at the CONCACAF Olympic qualifiers, she added: “So far we have achieved our goal which was to get to the knockout stage and now we have a great opportunity to qualify for the Olympics. I think if we can really come together and play maybe the best game that we are capable of then we should definitely feel we are in with a chance on Friday against the US.”
