Trinidad and Tobago midfielder Conrad Smith was selected on the American A-League Team-of-the-Week for the week ending June 23. Smith has been on loan since April to the Canada-based Calgary Mustangs from T&T Pro League team team Arima Morvant Fire.

The Mustangs have not been having the best of seasons and have won just two and lost seven of 11 matches to date. But it was Smith's performance during their second victory which earned the Morvant footballer his most recent accolade.

Smith scored a pair of goals as the Mustangs surprised the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 with their first win over the rival club.

Smith put away a pair of crosses in the 18th and 42nd minutes, heading home the first goal and then scoring from close-range.

Speaking in the Calgary Sun newspaper afterwards, Smith spoke of his eagerness to make the most of his opportunities.

"I knew that if I got more chances I could be more help to this team," said Smith, who missed a penalty kick the last time Vancouver visited McMahon. "I came into this one more mentally focused and I got the right connections from my team-mates."
