Carlos Edwards has topped the safc.com man of the match poll for the third successive game.

You named Edwards Sunderland's top player from their win over Derby County on Saturday - but it was a close call.

The Trinidad and Tobago winger got 25% of the votes, edging out goalscorers David Connolly (21%) and Liam Miller (19%).

Edwards, in the running for the Powerade Championship player of the month award, was also named man of the match from Sunderland's games against Birmingham and Southend.

The 28-year-old has been a revelation since he joined Sunderland from Luton Town in January.

He said: "It's going well for me and for the team but we have achieved nothing yet, we need to keep going. We're unbeaten in 2007 in the league and hopefully we can keep that going."

The winger added: "It's always nice to get recognition from the fans."
