Kenwyne JonesSunderland's Kenwyne Jones met fans at the Stadium of Light's club store last night.

There was a record turn-out for the signing session as fans chatted with the star striker and had their photos taken.

Fans of all ages turned out for the chance to get up close and personal with the Trinidad and Tobago man, some of them joining the queue before lunch.

Danny Turner, 11, from Sunderland, was in line to meet Jones, describing himself as his "number one" fan.

"Big Kenwyne is my favourite player and it was great to meet him," said Danny. "I hope he scores the winner at Arsenal."

Jones, who recently signed a new contract at Sunderland, said: "It's great that so many fans came out. I did something similar last season and I was overwhelmed by the turn-out then, but I think this beats it."

Jones has scored nine goals for Sunderland since returning from a serious leg injury in October.

Nik McDonald, SAFC's head of retail said: "The turn-out was amazing. Although the session was scheduled for 5pm-6pm, Kenwyne was more than happy to stay until well after 8pm to make sure everyone got to see him."
