JONES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!KENWYNE JONES has already laid down the gauntlet for next season and challenged himself to improve on what has been an impressive maiden campaign at the Britannia Stadium.

The Trinidad and Tobago ace shared the 2010/11 leading goalscoring award with fellow striker Jon Walters at the Player of the Year Awards show earlier this week having found the back of the net no fewer than 12 times.

However, whilst revealing his pleasure at the feat, he says he is determined to use that as a springboard as he strives to better himself over the course of the next twelve months.

"It's a tremendous honour to be up there with Jon and do well for the club," the former Sunderland star exclusively told stokecityfc.com.

"Seeing as this is my first season here at Stoke I am very happy to have been able to put a little stamp on my presence here, but hopefully I can come back next season and do even better.

"You set yourself little targets in your head, and mine for next season will be to get more goals than I have got this year. Hopefully, I can achieve that."

Jones, who arrived in the Potteries last summer in a club record £8 million deal, says the sides remarkable achievements this season have justified his decision to swap the red and white stripes of Sunderland for Stoke.

"As a football player you obviously dream of playing in big occasions like we have this season, and you do have those thoughts in the back of your head, of course you do. But to be honest I really don't think anyone expected it so quickly.

"This club has taken huge strides in recent years, and when I think back to when I was here the first time around it is pretty incredible, and a testament to the work which has been carried out here right the way through the club.

"People maybe wouldn't have ever believed that the club would see moments like it has this year, but we proved a few people wrong and hopefully we can continue doing that. I am really happy to be a part of it."
