Radanfah Abu BakrDefender Radanfah Abu Bakr agreed to a new-two year deal with Belgium club Olympic Club de Charleroi.

Following a trial which lasted just over a week with the Third Division club, Abu Bakr did sufficiently well to impress the management and penned the new deal ahead of the season which kicks off on August 7.

“I’m happy  to say that Radanfah got through .He agreed to the new deal today and he’s delighted and really looking forward to the start of the season next month,” agent Mike Berry said.

“It’s great to see another Trinidadian player in Europe. He will develop quickly which will in turn benefit the National team in due course.

We are particularly pleased for his family members who have backed him all the way. The boy’s determination, hard work in the gym and desire to make it has earned him this opportunity,” Berry added.

Abu Bakr himself, with eight international caps, added: “It’s an opportunity for me to start playing professionally again and I’m taking it and moving forward. I’m thankful and I’m going to make the best of this.”

Abu Bakr was previously sidelined for just over a year after suffering a stress fracture of the 5th metatarsal in his right foot in a Pro League League encounter in May 2010.
