Having turned 36 last month, ex-national defender Marvin Andrews, believe it or not, still has a desire to play at the highest level in Scotland.

The former Livingston man enjoyed great success, winning a Scottish Premier League and Cup title in 2005 with Glasgow Rangers and defying the odds by opting to play with an injured knee rather than undergo operation.

Speaking recently, Andrews said: “When January comes round, I don’t know, we’ll wait and see. I really believe that I can get back, even into the SPL.

I’m 36 but I really believe in my ability and I have seen David Weir played at the highest level at 40 years of age and he plays in the same position as me. I know there are clubs that would love to sign Marvin Andrews but unfortunately clubs don’t have the money that they used to.

I will pray about it and see where God wants me to go,” he added. Andrews is training with Raith Rovers.  He made six appearances for Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in November and despite a number of injuries in recent times, the former T&T skipper remains determined to keep on playing until he simply cannot move again on a football field.
