Soca Warriors duo, Shahdon Winchester and Aubrey David were both among the goals as FF Jaro whipped KuPS 4-1 for its first win in three matches in the 2014 Finland Premier League (Veikkaus Liiga) on Saturday at the Savon Sanomat Arena, Kuopio.

Beaten in its first two matches, 1-0 by HJK and 2-0 at home by Inter Turku, Jaro were desperate to end the losing drought and went ahead in the seventh minute through Germany’s Hendrick Helmke before the 22-year-old Winchester, a former W Connection striker, now in his second season with the club made it 2-0 nine minutes later which it took into the break.

Seven minutes after the restart, David, 23, who joined the club last month from Caledonia AIA in the Digicel T&T Pro League made it 3-0 with his first goal for the club in four outings before Swedish team-mate David Carlsson added a fourth item in the 56th.

Miikka Illo pulled a goal back for KuPS in the 67th but he was then red-carded ten minutes later as his team ended with ten men.

The win moved Jaro off the foot of the 12-team table and up to seventh with three points while RoPS, the club of T&T striker Jamal Gay is third from last with one point after a 2-0 loss away to Mariehamn also on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Gay, who previously enjoy a professional stint in Germany with Second Division club, SC Rot-Weiss Oberhausen 1904 came on as an 82nd minute replacement for Aleksander Kokko, his second such appearance after a seven minute outing in a similar 2-0 loss to VPS.

Today, Jaro faces Lahti and RoPS comes up against Inter Turku, with the trio of T&T players hoping to make some impact.

Over in Slovakia, Soca Warriors winger Lester Peltier played the first 68 minutes for Slovan Bratislava in its 2-0 win over Kosice to stay clear at the top of the 12-team table with 63 points after 27 matches, 14 more than Trencin and six matches left to play.

And in the English Championship, Carlos Edwards played yet another full 90 minutes for Millwall in its 0-0 draw against Doncaster Rovers to move a point clear of the relegation zone with 44 points from as many matches, the same as its opponent and one ahead of Brimingham City and Blackpool with two matches to play against promotion chasing Queen’s Park Rangers and mid-table AFC Bournemouth.
