Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has revealed there has been no bids for Kenwyne Jones or Michael Chopra.

Both players have been linked with potential moves away to Premier League rivals – Jones for £5m to Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur and Chopra for £4m to Hull City.

But Sbraigia revealed today: "I've had no bids for Michael Chopra and Kenwyne Jones – in fact no bids for anyone as things stand."

Sunderland, of course, paid Southampton £6m for Jones, last season, and the Black Cats boss has laughed off reports that he'd let the Trinidad and Tobago hitman leave Wearside for a loss.

He admitted: "When you look at some of these stories, they're hard to take in.

"Us losing Kenwyne like that would be comparable to Villa losing Ashley Young for a song. It's just not going to happen.

"You'd be better off just packing your bags and leaving if you were going to let your top players just walk out of the door for next to nothing.

"If you look at the prices of Dimitar Berbatov going to Manchester United, and Jermaine Defoe going to Tottenham Hotspur, and the sort of prices they are commanding, well, I certainly wouldn't value Kenwyne at £5m."

Even if Sbragia did receive an offer, Sunderland are not interested in the prospect of selling a player who they hope will be a fixture at the club for years to come. And the manager is only focused on getting the most out of the influential striker in the weeks ahead.

He said: "Kenwyne has made a big contribution to us already this season and we're just looking at bringing him on all the time without asking too much of him."

Jones has scored six goals in nine games since returning from injury in the current campaign, and has struck up a promising partnership with Djibril Cisse.

Any bid for Chopra, below, however, is likely to be more appealing to Sunderland, with the former Newcastle striker having struggled to make an impact at the club this season, only just returning from a loan spell at Cardiff City.
