DENNIS Lawrence is not ruling out returning to Crewe despite their relegation to League Two.

The giant centre-half is out of contract at Swansea and says he will consider any offer Gudjon Thordarson makes to sign him on a permanent basis.

The 34-year-old, was arguably Crewe's best loan capture of a dismal campaign after being recruited by former boss Steve Holland last October, and went on to form a key component of Thordarson's strong backline as Crewe battled against the drop.

Lawrence has a couple of World Cup qualifiers pencilled in with Trinidad and Tobago on June 6 and 10 after which his future destination will become clearer.

But he said: "I will go away and talk about it and you never know. I've fully enjoyed my time here. I will keep in contact and I will be speaking to my advisers. – it is all about me making the right decision.

"Crewe have been fantastic with me and it is an option."

In Crewe's favour is that Lawrence kept his home in nearby Wrexham despite his switch to South Wales three years ago.

"One of the reasons I left Swansea was because I want to be playing. I've come here and proved I've still got a lot to offer," said the defender.

"I'm not going to stop until my body and these legs tell me that's it.

"Crewe have got to start building for next season as soon as possible. They are a massive club and deserve to be at least in League One.

"They have to deal with the reality this season hasn't been good enough. But Gudjon has done tremendously well for the time he has had.

"He's shown what he's all about and he deserves the opportunity to try to take the club forward."

And Alex boss Thordarson commented: "Dennis is one of those players I will talk to. I think a lot of the squad already here can learn from my loan signings."
