Defending champions Boca Juniors will be favourites to capture the double when they meet New City FC in the Tiger Tanks Trinidad Unlimited-sponsored Fyzabad Community Football League knockout final at the Petrotrin Recreation Ground, Fyzabad, tomorrow (Saturday) from 4 pm. The winners of tomorrow’s game will collect $3,000 while the runner-up gets $1,500.

In the run-up to the final, Boca Juniors, which has already captured the $2,000 “Big-Four” crown got the better of last year’s runner-up, Standard, 5-2 in their semifinal while New City trounced Star Blinkers 5-0.
 
Prior to Sunday’s final, VTF Women’s Touring Team faces a Ministry of Sports Schoolaz/Fyzabad United combined.
 
New Comers, runner-up in the “Big-Four” competition won the $8,000 league competition after ending its six match campaign with 16 points, one more than Boca Juniors.
 
Over the years, the Fyzabad Community League has assisted in the development of many former and current national players inclusive of Brian Williams, Jamal Clarence, Jason Joseph and the Fleary brothers.
 
Veteran Devonish “Finey” Paul is also a product of the community and will be present tomorrow along with Brent Sancho and Stern John to witness the proceedings.
 
The Fyzabad League, now in its fifth year of sponsorship from Tigers Tanks Trinidad Unlimited praised the company’s general manager, Denis Latiff, for yet again stepping forward and supporting the league and by extension the development of football in the community.
 
His sponsorship this year was worth well over $40,000 which will be distributed as prizes and awards when the curtain comes down on the 2012 season tomorrow.
