GUAYAGUAYARE FC and Cost Cutters Matura Reunited progressed to the final of the Japs Fried Chicken-sponsored North East Stars Champion of Champions Football Tournament, with contrasting results at the Manzanilla Recreation Ground in Wednesday’s semi-finals.
Guayaguayare cruised to the highly anticipated January 1 final after earning a default victory over Malabar FC.
Matura, however, had to work their socks off to overcame recently crowned Fishing Pond champion Boys Town 4-2 in the other scheduled semifinal.
And the final is scheduled to take place at Manzanilla venue on New Year’s Day from 5 pm. The public is asked to come out in their numbers to see what is expected to be an exciting game of football and to cheer on their favourite player and team.
The league has grown since its inception with more teams interested in participating and the public enjoying the rivalry among teams in the region.
And after the football is finished and a champion crowned, fans can begin their Carnival liming at the second annual Soccer Fete which will be held on the same day at the Ojoe Road Recreation Ground.
