COST-CUTTERS Matura Reunited defeated Guayaguayare FC 4-2 on Tuesday, New Year’s Day, to clinch the 2012/2013 Japs Fried Chicken- sponsored North East Stars Champion of Champions Football Tournament at the Manzanilla Recreation Ground.
With the win, Matura went home with the $35,000 jackpot while Guayaguayare had to settle for a cash prize valued at $15,000.
And, in terms of the individual awards, Shervon Charles of Matura was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament while former St Vincent/Grenadines striker Shandel Samuel copped the Golden Boot for the most goals — six.
