Dacien John scored four goals and Keron Roach netted a brace as four-time champions Global Encounter Ministries (GEMS) stormed into the Churches Football League knockout semi-final with an emphatic 10-0 victory over Cumuto. Six players got on the score sheet for GEMS, who have won this title four times in the last five years.
Cumuto went into the match confident after winning the first leg 3-1. But from the onset GEMS were very business-like and also got goals from Neil Joseph, Kareem Perry, Kylan Gay and Jevon Simon to win the series 11-3 on aggregate. They will now meet D’Abadie Deliverance Sanctuary, which drew 1-1 with Valencia Pentecostal Assembly at the quarter-final stage, but fell 6-3 on aggregate.
The other semi-finalists are Curepe Amen and Church on the Rock. Last year’s beaten finalists Church of the Rock drew 1-1 with Reformation Life Centre but advanced 4-2 to aggregate, while former Church League champions Curepe Amen edged Daybreak to advance 1-0 on aggregate after a goalless first leg.
