Foreign Base copped the East Zone title of the 2014 Guinness Street Football Challenge when they scored a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Ballers on the back of a Kwayme John double at the Maloney Basketball Court in Maloney last Saturday.

Ballers, who had secured the runner-up position in Group B before going on to defeat Group A winner Small Soldiers, 1-0 on penalty in their semi-final clash, seemed prepared to do the business when Kerry Superville gave them the lead in the second minute of play.

That advantage was short-lived however, as John would even proceedings a minute later. And with all to play for in the second session, it was John who would find the back of the net again, four minutes from regulation (11th minute) to seal the win.

The winner opened their round robin campaign with a 1-0 win over D Back Crew via a tenth minute item from Stephon Kerr before going under by a 2-1 margin to Small Soldiers, who got a first half double from Jamal Creighton while Manu John notched a consolation item.

A 1-0 penalty shootout triumph over Young Gunners, after the game was locked 1-1 at the end of regulation, saw them finish second to Small Soldiers in Group A and earned them a semi-final date with the winner of Group B, Maloney Players.

That semi-final encounter also failed to produce any goals during regulation and Foreign Base would go on to secure a 3-2 win via the penalty spot.

The East Zone winners next engagement will be the national final at the Jean Pierre Complex in Port of Spain on May 17, where they will compete with the other five zonal winners and the two best second place finishers for the chance to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the regional final  on June 6-7, also at the Jean Pierre Complex.
