Dream Team surged to second in the standings of the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond Football League with back-to-back wins as action continued at the Fishing Pond Recreation Ground.

On Friday, the defending champions took care of Quash Trace 3-1 with a clinical performance.

A well-taken free-kick by Keryl Garcia in the first half gave Dream Team the lead while Zavion Navarro and Stephan Kerr added their names on the score-sheet to extend the score.

A late consolation from Pavarous Boswell was all Quash Trace had to show for a day’s work.

On Sunday though it was not as easy for Dream Team who picked up the three points through a second half own goal by Blu Magic in a tight affair.

Also last week, G Madrid demolished the struggling Boys Town 3-0.

A double from Keron James and one from Kennon Walcott proved the difference as the former champions crashed to their second defeat of the season.

Meanwhile, North Oropouche, the perennial “whipping boys” of the competition moved off the foot of the table with a pair of wins. On Sunday, North Oropouche eked out a 1-0 result against Quash Trace courtesy a Ronnel Lezama strike while on Wednesday they held off Manzan United for their first victory this season.

It was the perfect performance for North Oropouche in the first half with Cody Henderson netting the opener and Dejorn Waldropp firing in two more to put them ahead 3-0 at the break. The tables turned however in the second half with Dakiel Ferreira and Keyoin Boney scoring for Spartan as North Oropouche were left playing for time to hold on to the win.

Also this week, Randy Samuel scored the winner in a 1-0 result for Spartan over Gremio FC while Cosmos’ Travis Alexander hit a hat- trick in a 3-1 effort over Hill Toppers. Kendell Nathaniel scored Hill Toppers’ lone item. Take That and Cool It, meanwhile, came back from a 2-0 deficit to steal all three points versus Santos in a pulsating encounter.

Kylon Guy and Dwayne Charles had put Santos ahead before Kerwin Matthew pulled one back just before the interval.

Matthew was on target again upon resumption to restore parity and Andell Allsop scored the decider as Take That and Cool it stayed unbeaten atop the standings.

In other results, Coca All-Stars won by default over Fleming FC and Xpress beat Hill Toppers 1-0 through a Shane Hospedales effort.

In disciplinary news, organisers revealed that Xpress Overcome have been penalised for playing an illegal player in games vs Fleming FC and Quash Trace.

Fleming and Quash Trace have been awarded the wins in those matches.
