Santos smashed Hill Toppers for six on Sunday to pick up their first win of the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond League at the Fishing Pond Recreation Ground.

The result saw Santos inch off the base of the standings while Hill Toppers sank to the league basement.

Goals from Kedar Woods, Anton Samuel and new recruit Oral Jones gave Santos a comfortable lead at the half. Jones, a former Quash Trace player, found the back of the net again in the second half while skipper Jerron Jones and Woods extended the advantage. A late goal from Dave Persue gave Hill Toppers a minor consolation.

Also Sunday, Boys Town and Blu Magic battled to a gritty 1-1 draw. Kevin James fired Blu Magic in front in the opening half but forward Sean Reyes stepped up from the penalty spot to level the scores as the game ended in a tie.

On Tuesday, league leaders Take That and Cool It edged Spartan 2-1 to go six points clear at the top of the standings. Goals from Arkido Joseph and Mark Rivers gave “Cool It” a two-goal cushion while Henderson Charles reduced the deficit but Spartan could come no closer.

In other matches, Manzan United notched their first win with a 1-0 victory over Cosmos All-Stars. A Dakiel Ferreira first half item proved the difference for Manzan who will be hoping it is the start of things to come.

Also, Valencia United and Xpress Overcome played out a 1-1 draw with goals from Kristian Meloney (Valencia) and Keelon Joseph respectively.

Boys Town hammered Hill Toppers 4-0 as well with Sean Reyes, Shevon Charles and Stephen Bobb getting on the scoresheet.

G Madrid were 1-0 (Deron Dedier) winners over Fleming FC while Quash Trace whipped Valencia United 3-0.
