Boca Juniors, the reigning Fyzabad Community Football League knockout champions, sounded a warning to all challengers with their victory against defending League champions New Comers in Saturday’s season-opening feature game.

The League opened with the parade of uniformed teams and queens led by Petrotrin Cadet Corps before an appreciative crowd at the Petrotrin Fyzabad Recreation Ground.

New team in the league A.S.A.P. (Always Strive And Aspire) FC were adjudged parade winners, followed by Standard SC and New Comers respectively. Mariah Seepaul of ASAP FC was crowned best queen on parade, followed by Amanda Ramnarine (Standard SC) and Mashiah Leopold (South Oropouche United) in that order.

In the featured game for the 2014 Community Cup, New Comers came from behind to force an exciting 1-1 draw at full time after Boca Juniors scored early in the first half. Boca Juniors then got the better of New Comers 5 - 3 on penalties to lift the first major trophy of the season.
