GLOBAL ENCOUNTER Ministries (GEMS) emerged as champions of the Churches Football League Big 4 competition, despite losing their final round-robin game last weekend.

GEMS fell to a 1-0 loss to Peoples United Fellowship (PUF) courtesy of a penalty from Shawn Andrews.

Both GEMS and PUF finished with six points, but GEMS prevailed with a superior goal difference of plus-nine, compared to PUF’s minus-one.

The other Big 4 game last weekend turned out to be a rout, as Cumuto Strike Force embarrassed Strictly FX Amen 6-0.

Chike Carrera netted a treble while Darryl Jessop, Kevon Blake and Ronald Boyce chipped in with one apiece.

In the playoff for the Round of 16 qualification, Reformation Life Centre progressed courtesy of a 2-1 aggregate score over Genesis.

Last Saturday, both teams battled to a 1-1 draw in their return leg fixture. Ethan Husein found the back of the net for Reformation while Kemuel Brathwaite scored for Genesis.

Reformation joined New Testament Warriors, Daybreak United and D’Abadie Deliverance Sanctuary in the Round of 16 Knockout competition, which will get going this weekend.
