Xpress Overcome and Take That and Cool It played to a 2-2 draw on Sunday as the race to the “Big 8” intensifies in the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond Football League.

“Cool It” have already booked their place in the knock-out rounds but Xpress are in seventh spot and with two games still to play could miss out if results don’t go their way.

On Sunday, things looked favourable at the start when Take That and Cool It conceded an own goal to gift them the early lead.

The prolific Andell Allsop lashed in the equaliser before the break though to restore parity.

A handball infringement in the area by Xpress gave “Cool It” a chance to go in front and Mark Rivers duly dispatched the penalty kick. But Xpress would have the last laugh, Shane Hospedales firing in the equaliser.

In other results recently, Dream Team shook off a lethargic display last week to trounce Fleming 4-0. A double from Patrick Parris, an item from Xavion Navarro and an own goal decided proceedings.

Also, Santos and Spartan played to a 2-2 draw. Kylon Gay opened the scoring for Santos in the first half, but Spartan turned things around in the second period with goals from Colin Eastmond and Andy Ramlochan. Kendall Samuel ensured a share of the points with a clinical strike for Santos.

Meanwhile, G Madrid won by default against Quash Trace Ball Players while Take That and Cool It drew 1-1 with Manzan United.

Action continues tomorrow with Dream Team against G Madrid at 3.45pm. On Thursday, it’s Fleming vs Boys Town (1.45pm) and Cosmos vs Santos (3.45pm).

On Saturday, Coca All-Stars tackle Manzan United (1.45pm) and Santos play Gremio (3.45pm). Manzan take on Xpress Overcome on Sunday at 1.45pm while Blu Magic face Fleming two hours later.
