Veteran midfielder Marc Borde was named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2009 Bmobile National Super League on Thursday evening.

The League staged a brief annual award ceremony at the CL Duprey Suite, Queen’s Park Oval, St Clair. For his efforts, Borde, who captained St Francois Nationals, walked away with a $2,000 cheque.

Borde was also part of the Top Five Players of the Year, alongside ex-national defender Anthony Noreiga (TTEC), Michael-Lee Celestine (WASA), Ricardo Bennett (Joe Public) and Alexie Julien (Club Sando).

The quintet each got a $1,000 cheque for their achievements. In the League contest, winners Joe Public got a sum of $120,000, a trophy and 25 gold medals, while runners-up TTEC earned $65,000 and 25 silver medals, and third-placed Harvard collected $33,000 and 25 bronze medals.

And, in the Knockout competition, the victorious Economy Strikers got a trophy and $35,000 with beaten finalists TTEC taking home $15,000.
