Extra time goals by Oba Meritt and Antawn Williams helped Tunapuna Boys RC retain the Atlantic National Primary Schools Football League Boys Under-11 crown with a 3-1 victory over Whim Anglican at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar yesterday.

Whim took an early lead in the first minute of the game as Mikal James found the back of the net for the Tobago champions. Merritt equalised for Tunapuna in the seventh minute of the second half (22nd) on a counterattack after a Whim attack featuring James and his captain Kaylon Brathwaite had broken down.

The scores remained tied after regulation time and the game seemed set to go to penalties before Merritt got his second goal in the fourth minute of the second half of extra time. Williams added a third in the last minute of play.

Meanwhile, in the second game on the triple-header, eight-times national champions Arima Boys RC beat a determined Montgomery Government School 1-0 in the Under 15 Boys final.

The eastern giant got their goal from the penalty spot through Kareem Trotman. Arima Boys have now won the most championships in the history of Primary Schools football--nine.

In the Girls Under 15 final, St Andrews Anglican of Tobago could not fend off defending champions Moruga RC in the first match.
