SCARBOROUGH SECONDARY captured the bpTT/First Citizens Girls Intercol title yesterday after crushing Bishop’s 4-0 at the Plymouth Recreation Ground.

The game was played on a soggy outfield, under persistent rainfall, but the Scarborough girls were not deterred, as Jahmila Edwards got the opening strike after 21 minutes.

Aaliyah Charles extended the lead in the 37th while Njemile Charles got Scarborough’s third in the 43rd and Jeanile Lawrence ended Bishop’s misery when she found the back of the net in the 80th. The Girls Intercol East Final will be staged today, with St Augustine facing Bishop’s East at the San Juan North Secondary Ground at 3.30 pm.

The Scarborough-Bishop’s fixture was the first game of a double-header at Plymouth, with Speyside claiming the Coca Cola Intercol Tobago Zone crown following a comfortable 5-2 triumph over Signal Hill.

There was another double-header at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, in the Coca Cola Intercol Central Zone semi-finals. In the first “semi”, Carapichaima needed kicks from the penalty spot to oust Presentation College 4-2, after the scores were even at 2-2 at the end of regulation time.

Chaguanas North had no such worries in the latter game, as they blanked ASJA Boys 3-0. The Central Zone final will be staged at the aforementioned Couva venue on Thursday. Today, the focus will be on the semi-final matches in both the South and North Zones.

Naparima, the winners of both the 2014 Premier Division and Big Four titles, will be involved in the first of back-to-back matches at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella when they clash with Pleasantville from 2 pm.

Two hours later, Presentation San Fernando will square off with St Benedict’s. The North Zone semis will begin simultaneously at 3.30 pm, with St Anthony’s meeting East Mucurapo at the St Mary’s Ground in St Clair while St Mary’s will tackle Trinity College at the Fatima Ground in Mucurapo.
