The Intercol Football Nostalgia Committee, under the chairmanship of Ken Butcher, will hosts its second annual Colleges Ex-Pupils Intercol Football Festival on March 8 at the St Mary’s College Ground from 10.30 am-6 pm.

The competing schools include Queen’s Royal College (QRC), Naparima College, St Benedict’s College, Presentation College, Tranquillity Secondary, Fatima College, Belmont Secondary, St Mary’s College (CIC) and St Anthony’s College. St Anthony’s is competing for the first time this year.

The main goal of the competition is to engender a sense of patriotism and passion toward one’s alma mater. Secondly, the event provides an environment to engage young players in a manner that affords stability, a disciplined work ethic and a credible transition to national service.

Three age groups will participate, Under-35, 35-50 and a 50 and over category. Each category will take part in 15 or 20 minute matches in a seven-a-side small goal competition. The organisers expect over 300 past students to compete, with another 500 persons attending.

Defending champions Fatima College (U-35), Belmont Boys’ Secondary (35-50) and Naparima College (Over 50) are all eager, and expected to mount strong title defences.

Registration will take place from 8 am to 10 am on tournament day. Persons can also pre-register at nostalgiaeventinfo@gmail.com.
