Despite speculation of a breach of rules by St Anthony’s College in its recent clash against Carapichaima East, no such protest has been filed and the “Tigers” will remain on top of the SSFL Premier Division standings today when the school meets Shiva Boys Hindu College in match day five.

St Anthony’s College leads the 14-team standings with 12 points from a perfect four-match win streak and will be seeking to add another three when coach Nigel Grosvenor’s charges host a mid-table Shiva Boys (two wins, two losses).

There was talk recently that St Anthony’s unbeaten run and leading position in the standings may be in the balance as Carapichaima considered appealing St Anthony’s fielding of Shakeem Patrick, who was suspended for one match after receiving a red card in the league opener, two matches prior, against Trinity College.

St Anthony’s was scheduled to meet St Benedict’s College in the subsequent fixture but the match never kicked off due to an unprepared pitch.

St Anthony’s, the away team, was awarded a three-nil win by default.

The player then appeared in the following match against Carapichaima East, last Wednesday, which ended in a 5–0 win for St Anthony’s.

Contacted yesterday to question if any appeal was filed by Carapichaima East, SSFL general secretary Azaad Khan confirmed that none was. He added that the player would have served his ban for the match against St Benedict’s even if it never played. Khan said: “In any case, he was not on the team sheet prepared before the match. He was not going to take part in the match."

Simultaneous with St Anthony’s clash with Shiva Boys, all six other matches will play at 3.45 pm.

Only one change has been made to today’s Premier Division programme with Chaguanas North’s meeting against Presentation College San Fernando being played at New Settlement Ground, Caroni instead of Chaguanas North’s school ground.

Three other matches will be played in the Tobago Zone Championship Division, also from 3.45 pm.
