St Anthony’s College suffered another setback on home turf yesterday when San Juan North Secondary inflicted a 3-2 defeat on the leaders in one of two rescheduled matches in the Premier Division of the BG T&T/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football League.
Leaders St Anthony’s who suffered a 5-1 hammering on Saturday at their Westmoorings base against Naparima College, came off second best once more yesterday, as San Juan were never headed once Brent Sam gave them the lead.
The “Tigers” got an equaliser from Kwesi Allen, but further goals by Levi O’Brien and Josiah Trimmingham put the game out of St Anthony’s reach before Andrew Rollo got a consolation item for the home side.
The defeat, St Anthony’s second in a row, means that their lead that was once five points, is now down to two.
The win for San Juan moved them into third place, three points off the leaders, while Naparima College remain second. Naps’ southern rivals St Benedict’s however, could not take full advantage of St Anthony’s slip-up as they were held to a goalless draw by Chaguanas North Secondary in La Romain.
San Juan, Trinity East and Benedict’s are all locked on 15 points with only goal difference separating the trio.
