Fabien LewisF.A. Trophy finalists Central F.C. have introduced their latest addition, 30 year old Fabien Lewis. The 6 foot central defender has been recruited from Singapore club Woodlands Wellington F.C. and has had spells in Puerto Rico with Atletico de San Juan as well as 3 seasons in the U.S.A. with Real Maryland Monarchs, Michigan Bucks and Western Mass Pioneers.

Despite being born in San Fernando and attending Naparima College, Lewis has never played professional football in Trinidad & Tobago.

“It’s kind of weird making your debut in Trinidad at age 30” laughed Lewis. “But I left T&T to attend college in the U.S.A. and although I always wanted to play in my home country, opportunities elsewhere took me further away!”

Lewis is quoted as being a “solid defensive performer” and will no doubt be interested in attracting the attention of the national team coaches. “My first aim is to secure a regular first team spot, as there is a lot of competition for places” said Lewis “I’ve admired the coaches style from afar and I know the kind of performances that he wants. If I can deliver solid performances week after week, then, of course, I hope the national coaches will take note.”

The Sharks take on St Anns Rangers on Friday in a bottom of the table battle at Ato Boldon Stadium and coach Terry Fenwick now has selection decisions to make. Lewis will be competing with Weslie John, Omar Charles, Antiguan international Troy Dublin and Keion Goodgridge for a central defensive role, while Hector Sam, Darryl Trim, Jason Marcano and Peter Byers will be fighting for a starting spot in the frontline.

Meanwhile, Central F.C. will be looking to recruit youngsters for their Under 17, Under 15 and Under 13 teams for the Oasis Youth Pro League. Youth Development Director Kevin Jeffrey said we will be holding trials next weekend and we hope to get a good attendance from the youngsters in Central.”

Information about the trials will be posted on the club’s facebook page centralfctt in the early part of next week.

Meanwhile, Lewis will be hoping to make his debut for the The Sharks against St Anns Rangers on Friday 25th January at Ato Boldon Stadium at 8pm, with Defence Force taking on Police F.C. at 6pm.
