Marvin Oliver starred yet again as Central FC returned to the top of the Digicel Pro League (DPL) 2014-2015 standings on Tuesday night after registering a late 2-1 Round One Match Day Five win over Defence Force at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

Argentine midfielder Miguel Romeo scored in stoppage time to help the Zoran Vranes coached-Central (now 10 points) secure three valuable points to return to the top of the standings by swapping positions with inactive San Juan Jabloteh (8 points) who dropped into second.

But it was the 39 year-old Oliver, a veteran midfielder now plugged in the middle of defence, that scored a crucial 33rd minute equaliser for the "Couva Sharks" after Jerwyn Balthazar had put Defence Force ahead in the 26th minute.

Oliver, the furthest outfield player from the attacking goal, taking his tally to five goals in as many league games – a statistic that outplays forwards this season.

Defending DPL champions W Connection also made upward movement after defeating Point Fortin Civic 3-0 in the first match at the Couva venue.

The result propelled Connection three spots up the ladder into fourth position with 7 points, the same tally as Caledonia AIA and North East Stars in fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Second half goals by Jerrel Britto, Alvin Jones and Neil Benjamin Jr. in the 50th, 65th and stoppage time, respectively, saw Connection rebound from last Saturday’s dissapointing 4-3 penalty kicks loss to Super League’s WASA FC following a 1-1 preliminary draw in the Toyota Classic.

While at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Trinidad and Tobago Under 20 star Kadeem Corbin marked his return to Rangers, for the first time after two months, with a late goal to deny Caledonia full and earn the bottom of the table St. Ann’s club its first point of the campaign in a 1-1 draw.

Densill Theobald had given Caledonia the lead in the 70th minute before Corbin, who scored a second half hat-trick against Haiti in the Final of the Caribbean U-20 Championship last month, levelled the scores in the 86th minute.

Third positioned Police FC (now 8 points) and North East Stars also played to a draw that ended 0-0 in the second match at the Macoya venue, while San Juan Jabloteh sat out on the bye.
