Pt Fortin Civic stayed alive in the Southern Football Association (SFA) League Cup competition via a 6-5 penalty-kicks win over Giants on Wednesday.

 This after Civic won the second-leg clash by a 2-1 margin thanks to a brace from Wrenn Hector to level the tie 3-3 on aggregate to send the match to penalty-kicks where it prevailed to set up a second round meeting with Barrackpore United which begins today in Techier from 6 pm. 

When both teams met in the first-leg Giants followed up its Petrotrin Super League Winston St Clair Division 2-1 win over Pt Fortin with a similar margin of victory with goals from Akiel Andrews and Johnny Phillip to cancel out Hector, the brother of national midfielder Hughton Hector reply for Pt Fortin. 

In the lone second round series to start, Moruga FC and Centre For Excellence battled to a 0-0 draw with the return-leg set for while Penal All Stars takes a 6-1 win into its first-round second-leg meeting with Pluck Road today at Penal after Wednesday’s match was rained out.

Diamond United also holds a 2-1 edge over the much fancied University of T&T going into their second-leg match at Tarouba Link Road today. Duval Moore got both goals for Diamond and Jamal Creighton was on target for UTT.
