Super League decider tomorrow

E-mail Print PDF

T&T Under-20 players will be looking to complete the double in the National Super Football League when the penultimate day of league matches take place tomorrow, from 4 pm.

Currently, defending champion, WASA leads the 13-team table with 52 points from its 24-match league scheduled.

However, the T&T Under-20 players—already winners of the Super League knockout competition—and Joe Public both have 51 points and a match left to play against Pheonix and Alcoa Carenage United respectively, tomorrow.

The Under-20’s will travel to Tobago for a 4 pm meeting with “Big Four”-chasing Angostura 1976 Phoenix at Canaan, Bon Accord.

Joe Public journeys to Youth Camp Ground, Chaguaramas, for its clash with Carenage, which is also chasing the final spot in the “Big Four” competition.

Should the Under-20’s and Joe Public both win their matches, the national youngsters would win the title on goal difference from Joe Public.

The Zoran Vranes-coached Under-20’s currently has a goal difference of plus-43 to the Eastern Lions plus-29.

If both matches tomorrow end in drawn results, then WASA —which has a goal difference of plus-49 would retain the league crown.

Phoenix is fourth on the table with 44 points from 22 matches while fifth-placed Carenage has 39, with both teams set to meet on the final day of league action, in another re-scheduled encounter.

The top six Super League teams would also secure a spot in the Toyota Classic knockout series which involves the ten clubs in the T&T Pro League.
