FORMER national midfielder and captain Travis Mulraine has completed the Level 2&3 Football Coaching Courses and yesterday said his next step will be to pursue the English “A” Licence course.

The courses were conducted by former English Premiership League player Jon Gittens and Chris Whalley at the CONCACAF Centre of Excellence in Macoya for a duration of 11 days.

“Level Two was basic and dealt specifically with Under-19 teams and players,” Mulraine who currently plays for Joe Public Football Club said.

“Level Three dealt with the senior players,” he said. Mulraine is currently the assistant coach for Joe Public’s Super League team.

He explained that he wants to conduct his coaching in three divisions. First the Under-12 Division which will deal with the instilling of the basics of the game at the grassroot level and also at the Under-19 level.

At this (Under-19) level Mulraine intends to continue the development at the Secondary Schools level before the players progress to the senior level. The aggressive defensive central midfielder said he also wants to coach at the senior level.

“I singled out these divisions because they are critical periods in the development of players from junior to senior levels,” Mulraine said. “At the course I dealt with most of the things that I am accustomed to as a player, but it dealt more with the coaching aspects of the game. It showed you how to structure your coaching sessions and how to spread the education of the game,” Mulraine said.
