Marvin AndrewsRANGERS remain hopeful that Marvin Andrews can still be withdrawn from international action ahead of the crunch Old Firm clash next weekend.
Trinidad and Tobago have called up the towering defender for their near-meaningless home game with St Vincent and Grenadines on Wednesday night, meaning Andrews wouldn't arrive back in Scotland from the Caribbean before Friday afternoon.

T&T need only avoid a 3-0 defeat at the hands of their tiny rivals to advance to the next stage of the World Cup qualifiers.

Rangers had initially reluctantly accepted that Andrews would have to make the long transatlantic journey but, on hearing word that Portsmouth keeper Shaka Hislop has been excused from duty, the club's stance has changed.

Alex McLeish said: "We were hoping we could have an understanding with the T&T but the coach always wants his best players involved.

"But we believe Shaka Hislop has been excused and I would now like to do something about Marvin too, if that's the case.

"I'm told it is a game that Trinidad will win easily and so we would like a bit of co-operation with the T&T federation. We will see about that in the coming days.

"The fixture list and the way it has come out that we play Celtic at 12.30pm on a Saturday on international week is absolutely crazy."
