Youths get everything easy these days, don't they?

Nineteen years ago, it took the Dwight Yorke-led national under-20 team ten matches-eight wins, one draw and one defeat -to book a place at the 1991 World Youth Championships in Portugal. And, even then, they were forced to endure another nervous 90 minutes as Mexico defeated the United States 3-1 to ensure that Trinidad and Tobago and not the US qualified as the second best team.

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Under 20 football team head coach Zoran Vranes will be monitoring the physical state of German-based striker Jamal Gay over the next twenty four hours leading up to Saturday’s CONCACAF Under 20 World Qualifying match against Canada after the player complained of muscle tightness following his first training session at the Marvin Lee Stadium on Wednesday.

Trinidad and Tobago’s National Under 20 footballers received a surprise courtesy visit from local midfield wizard and coach Russell Latapy as they trained at the Marvin Lee Stadium on Wednesday evening ahead of Saturday’s opening CONCACAF Under 20 World Qualifier against Canada.
