T&T Cup plays big part in development

To many of us, the future of our football seems to be based upon the recent past and the present state of affairs, vis-a-vis World Cup results and a presence of a new slate of technocrats at the helm who are attempting to improve the quality of the current stars. Both aspects of assessment are relevant to the future, the first being an analysis of what went wrong and how it should be corrected. The second is the positive move by the present coaching staff to look towards a number of youngsters for a better performance at the training sessions and matches leading up to the Digicel Gold Cup tournament in Martinique later this year. But we should not ignore that the development process must take place in the teenagers who are now being given the opportunity to express themselves and demonstrate how the large number of young coaches are working towards a better class of footballer for the next decade.

La Foucade calls for Govt support

Head coach Dion La Foucade of the La Foucade Footballing Clinic, is calling on the government for financial support, as he strives to help in the development of football in T&T. La Foucade yesterday concluded a one week long clinic, in association with the Manchester United’s Academy, for children ages five-18 at the St Mary’s Ground, Serpentine Road St Clair. The local coach said while the clinic was a success, he was unable to get a sponsor, which placed a heavy financial burden on himself.

Man U coach: Lots of raw talent in T&T

Manchester United coach, Eamon Mulvey, expressed his pleasure on Wednesday at the week-long football camp which was organised in association with the Dion La Foucade Coaching Clinic at CIC Grounds, Serpentine Road throughout this week. Mulvey, who was also a part of the camp last year, said that he was impressed with the general organisation of the camp and this was the reason he came back another year. “The way it is set up and organised is a credit to Dion. We came here last year and that’s the reason why we came back, to have fun with the kids, and share with them what we do back home, it’s all for the kids and the grassroots,” said Mulvey. He shared that the potential of the kids at the camp was very good and the girls in particular appeared to be a lot more focused than the boys.
