Life Sport edge Sweaters 1-0

Enterprise Life Sport derailed Sweaters United’s bid to challenge for the 2015 Lendore Village Football League title by handing them a 1-0 loss at the Chrissie Terrace Recreation Ground in Enterprise last Friday.

Sweaters, who came into the tournament touted as the team to dethrone FC Hard Knocks, was the first to settle and Renaldo Williams came close to giving them the lead in the ten minute but Life Sports goalkeeper Ainsley County did well in getting down low to parry the firm left-footed shot away from the danger zone.

In the 35th minute it was Dion Regis turn to lift Sweaters’ hope when he got inside his marker to direct a shot inches inside of the left upright but again County was equal to the task, going full stretch to his right to push the ball out for a corner.

Second half action saw Life Sport springing to life as Jamal James had his curling 20-metre free kick in the 46th minute prodded away by goalkeeper Isaac Stephen. But James would bring the crowd to life three minutes later when he weaved his way into the 18-metre box, won the battle against two defenders and placed a crisp shot to the left of Stephen and into the back of the net.

The goal served to give Life Sport the impetus as Colin Wheeler would have a left-footed shot crash into the side net in the 63rd minute. Wheeler had another opportunity in the 71st minute when Kareem St Clair raced down the left flank to go past his marker and squared the ball into his path, however, his final effort was a tame one which was easily gathered by Stephen.

In other weekend results, West Wood Strikers whipped Young Money FC 2-0; Jordan Trace CRIL defeated Edinburgh 500 3-0; FC Hard Knocks blanked Petersfield Samba Boys 4-0; and Joga Boyz was awarded their match by a 3-0 margin after opponent Doye United did not show up for the encounter.
