In a match where the winners would have been viewed as one of the main contenders in the tournament, SIS took the honours, 1-0.

Both teams started cautiously, with most of the action restricted to the midfield. As the match progressed, there were chances at both ends, however SIS only got their breakthrough on the verge of half time.

SIS’s Moriba Vance, the standout player for most of the half, went past three defenders to tee up striker Akeem Awong, who from close range found the target past the WASA custodian.

WASA started the second half on the offensive, and had the SIS Goal Keeper making some brilliant saves, but as WASA pushed forward, they left gaps in their defence and mid-way through the half, SIS could have been two goals up but Awong missed a sitter. Despite a sustained effort to reel in the score, WASA could not find the back of the net as the new group leaders SIS held on for a hard-fought victory.

The result saw SIS top their respective group with nine points and a game in hand, WASA sit in second with seven points, while the second group sees Plideco head the standings, albeit on goal difference, as they are both level on seven points with Arcelor Mittal. Nu Iron are in third with six points.
