The Football 7 Association limited will be staging its second Football 7s tournament this coming weekend, September 12th and 13th at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

The tournament, billed the “T&T 7s Community Cup” will be opened to all community teams, clubs, minor league teams and school teams. There is no age limit for players. 

Teams will vie for a first prize of $20,000, runners-up will take away $5,000 and third place finishers will receive $2,500. Registration fee for up to fifteen players per team is $2,000. 

The inaugural Football 7s Cup was held at the Ato Boldon in May with Skillz that Killz FC of Fyzabad copping the title and $20,000 first prize after defeating Paradise FC in the final. 

Several prominent players took part in that tournament including National Futsal and Beach Football players Noel Williams, Kevon Woodley, Jerwyn Balthazar, Chad Apoo, Lorne Joseph, Kishun Seecharan; ex-nationals Stern John, Hayden Tinto and Gary Glasgow; Juma Clarence, Jayson Joseph, Shackiel Henry and recent National Under 23 midfielder Nathaniel Garcia who was adjudged the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Seecharan, an ex-Under 20 national, won the tournament’s top scorer award with eleven goals in five matches. 

The tournament is sanctioned by the Football 7 Worldwide Organisation of Brazil of which the TT Football 7 Association is an affiliate. 

Games will consist of two halves of fifteen minutes each. 

There are no offsides and unlimited substitutions. There will be professional match officials overseeing the games, paramedics on site as well as a live broadcast of the matches on Cable sports channel Wi Sports. All games will be played on the stadium’s main field. 

The group phase is scheduled for Saturday with the knockout and final taking place on Sunday.
